We have a choir concert tomarrow! Yay(ish)! That’s not the bad part! So, for like, a couple of weeks, I have had this TERIBLE cough and it sucks. My voice makes it sound like, and I quote my friends: ‘a dying elephent that has been smoking’. Hmmm…. You wanna bet that my singing sounds even worse? cuz u would be right! Anyway, yes, I could just be piano, and like quiet as not to disrupt the rest of the choir.
BUT I have to sing a solo.
Now, I could just miss the concert, but I am the soloist, and its actually really rude to do that, and then someone would have to fill in, and this is my first time I get to sing a solo! so my mom would not let me skip it, or not sing it.
Or, I could just go and just, do my thing. ONE: I WILL NEVER GET A SOLO AGAIN BC THEY WILL THINK THATS WHAT I ALWAYS SOUND LIKE, and two. my voice sucks.

drink plenty of water and practice by singing along to your favorite songs!!! You can maybe explain to the audience that your throat isn’t doing so well before you sing, so you can’t sing as well as you used to.

As a choir person myself who recently had a concert, I know how it feels to be sick before one of your concerts. It’s terrible and it really hurts your confidence with your voice. Trust me, you’re gonna do better than you think. To ease the cough, try and drink some hot tea with honey, take cough drops or Ricolas, and drink plenty of water. 🙂
For some warmups, test out your range and see how affected your voice is. For me when I’m sick I can’t go up into the soprano 2 range that I normally can go into. Best case scenario, you might not be able to hit certain high notes, but if it’s worse case scenario, try and ask your choir teachers if you can sing down the octave.
Also, I’m sure your voice doesn’t suck. If it did, you wouldn’t have gotten the solo in the first place. 🙂

I REALLY. REALLY. REEEEEEAAAAALLLLLYYYYYY. HATE. PHYSICS.
So I’m already struggling so much in the class because I don’t understand any of the material, and when I asked a question during someone’s final presentation project, I couldn’t really put the question into words (thanks a lot social anxiety) and then when I asked, the person presenting couldn’t really answer it, and someone else behind me said “lol Breezeflame just put a bunch of nonsense together to make herself look serious” and I’m just so mad. I’m already horrible at this stupid class, and then when I ask something and work up the courage and guts to speak I’m immediately insulted. It’s just so frustrating and I can genuinely say that this class has ruined any previous interest I had in science because nobody takes me seriously and I’m just the dumb shy girl nobody wants to be lab partners with. Literally concepts are explained to me SEVEN TIMES and I still don’t get it.
Also this one really annoying kid, Larchfur, wouldn’t stop showing me his dumb drawings during class (its literally just the same anime character he created in different styles) and it took all my energy not to snap at him and tell him the reality that it’s stupid and ugly. I just hate everything about physics and nothing is ever making sense and I’m always made fun of. I’m on the brink of getting a D in that class (I’m at a C minus rn) and I would never forgive myself for getting a D on my final transcript but everything I do and say in that stupid class is me being dumb and why do I ever bother at this point. 🙁

*hugs* i’m so sorry, Breezo! you aren’t speaking any nonsense, everyone has times where they find it hard to put the words together. don’t let their comments lower your self-esteem, what they’re speaking is the actual nonsense! as for Larchfur, if he’s showing you his drawings during class, I don’t think it’s good for both you and him. you need to focus during class, and he’s distracting you from it and just making things worse; i suggest telling him how you feel. your needs are more important than trying to avoid hurting Larchfur’s feelings; if he doesn’t listen to you, just ignore him or tell someone. lastly, physics can be pretty confusing, you can search the concepts up, some sources online can teach you quite a lot (maybe Khan academy?), or ask your teachers/parents/friends about it. Wishing you the best of luck with your grades <3
