We are delighted to have so many talented and prolific writers on BlogClan, but the amount of fan fiction posted in comments has increased so much that we do not have the time or resources to moderate it all in a timely fashion. What we’re about to say will seem harsh, but it will hopefully mean that comment moderation over the whole site will become quicker which means more fun for everyone. So, here goes, and apologies in advance if this is upsetting:

Fan fiction comments will not be moderated on BlogClan.

This means comments containing fan fiction will never make it out of moderation. They will languish there, unread and unmoderated, for eternity.

Wattpad provides an excellent platform for reading and sharing fan fiction. You might wish to use that instead to share your stories. I am not favouring Wattpad. It’s the only one I know of, and I’m sure there are many other platforms out there you might prefer. It’s up to you!

If you can’t make an account on any site, you may use justpaste.it! If you only have access to Google Docs, then you must use a blog email to make the document or link a web-published version of your document. To make a web-published version, set the doc to be viewable by anyone with the link, then go to “File” -> “Share” -> “Publish to web” and click “Publish”, then copy the link provided (it MUST end in “/pub”). Any document found to contain personal information will not be moderated!

Feel free to post links to your fan fiction on this page. Please don’t post them anywhere else on BlogClan that isn’t a secret page. Links to fan fiction posted in comments on ANY OTHER NON-SECRET PAGE will be deleted.

  • Warriors Series 5.5: Echoes of the War
    Book 6: Silent Sacrifice
    Prologue

The still calm of the early leaf-fall night was broken by the howls and screams of battle. Dark shadows fell over the hollow, the starts beginning to twinkle weakly overhead. In the darkness, forms were writhing and twisting and clawing, their eyes blazing with the light of battle, claws and fangs flashing as cats wailed their agony. This wasn’t some little border skirmish. The entire hollow was covered in cats, and they were locked in a bloody battle to the death.

But one cat had left the vicious slaughter behind her. A gray she-cat stumbled away from the hollow, seeming oblivious to the shrieks and cries behind her. Thick blood was plastered against the fur of her neck, steadily pulsing from an open gash. Her golden gaze was glazed with pain, her paws stumbling as she pushed herself blindly forward. The agony of her wounds was overwhelming, but the she-cat knew that to stay where she was meant death. One paw was moved blindly in front of the other in a slow, agonizing struggle to get to safety.

Finally, the shrieks of battle fell away behind the she-cat was she trudged through the moorland. Every step sent agony shooting through her wounded neck, but she forced herself to keep going, nearly stumbling as her paws carried her down a sloping hill. She didn’t stop until her paws nearly tripped over a small ditch beneath a clump of heather.

Gritting her teeth against the pain, the she-cat pulled herself into the ditch, slithering gracelessly onto her belly as the last of her energy left her. The she-cat groaned as agony pulsed through her wounded neck. She was barely awake now, her mind in a blinding haze of pain. The she-cat tried to summon the hate that had kept her strong for so many moons, but there was nothing in her heart but terror. Is this how I die? she wondered, barely conscious enough to form full thoughts. Her vision swam and swayed, the starlit heather blurring as her world began to go dark. But it can’t end this way. There’s more I have to do. Try as she might, she couldn’t keep herself awake any longer. With a final whimper, she closed her eyes, feeling her consciousness slip away.

For several moments, there was nothing. Then, the she-cat found herself in a forest. She blinked, taking a step back in surprise. The wound that had overpowered her was gone. Now, the she-cat stood, all of her power and strength restored. She took a step forward, testing her body, but there was no pain anymore. Relieved, but wary, she began to look at the forest around her.

It wasn’t a forest like she’d ever seen before. The trees overhead cast sharp, ominous shadows on the ground, which was wet and marsh-like underpaw. The stench of rotting wood hung all around her, and though there was no wind, the she-cat felt a chill working through her, all the way to the bone. Most disturbing of all was the inky expanse above her. There were no stars at all speckling the night sky above, just the flat blackness of night. The she-cat felt her pelt bristling, unease creeping through her pelt.

The gray she-cat was distracted from the sight of the starless sky by the sudden feeling of something cool against her pelt. She glanced down, surprised to see mist wrapping itself around her. It wasn’t like any mist she’d seen before. The mist had a bluish tinge, almost seeming to carry its own light. There was something about the way it moved; it was like it was a living creature, dipping and weaving like a cat around her pelt. The she-cat lowered her muzzle, sniffing curiously at the mist – only to recoil in shock as it spoke.

         “Greetings, Scorch.”

With a gasp, the she-cat threw her head back, hackles bristling. The voice seemed to be coming from the mist, which quivered lightly as it spoke. But it was impossible. “Who’s there?” she growled, swinging her head from side to side.

The mist brushed against her, like a pelt pressing against her own. “Someone who can help you,” the voice purred. The voice was unlike any feline voice Scorch had heard. It was trying to sound soothing, but it was sharper than any cat’s voice, like the crackling of a flame. “You would do well to listen to what I have to say, Scorch.”

The she-cat pinned her ears back. “How do you know my name?” she growled, lashing her tail.

“I know many things,” the voice told her. “I know how well you have served Breeze.” Scorch’s ear flicked at the mention of her leader, but she didn’t comment. “I know where you come from.” The mist pressed closer against her, the voice whispering into her ear as it purred, “I know the hatred in your heart. And I know about your mother, and how she betrayed you.”

Rage blazed through Scorch at the mention of her mother. She had to fight to keep her pelt from bristling, or her claws from tearing into the dirt, imagining it was the pelt of the family that had betrayed her. She had to focus right now. Once she had reigned in her anger, she hissed through gritted teeth, “Who are you? What do you want with me?”

The mist slowed as it circled her, seeming to pause for a moment. “My name is Shade.”

Scorch blinked in surprise. The name was familiar to her. Breeze had told her about the powerful spirit that dwelled in the Dark Forest, who had given him the wisdom he needed to destroy the Clans. She had imagined Shade to be a cat, a dead warrior just like all the others in the Dark Forest; she hadn’t expected this. “Alright,” Scorch growled slowly. “If you’re Shade, then this is the Dark Forest.” A new thought occurred to her, leaving her blood chilled. She remembered how she had slipped off into sleep while her neck wound continued to pulse with blood. “Am I dead?” she breathed.

For a few moments, there was silence. “That depends on you, Scorch,” Shade finally said.

The massive she-cat flicked her ears back warily. “What do you mean?”

Shade’s voice had taken on a new tone, no longer the teasing purr of before. Now, she sounded more serious. “Your injuries were grave, indeed. It would be all too easy to let yourself slip away.” Something in her tone seemed to grow more urgent as she continued, “Or, you can get up, find a way to survive, and get your revenge. Breeze told me about your intelligence, and your strength – I think I will have need of that, now that Breeze and his rogues are defeated.”

Scorch stiffened in surprise. She had fled the battle in the hollow before it had ended. Before she’d left, her campmates were winning. “The Clans won?” she rasped.

“Yes. Breeze is dead, and your campmates are scatted.”

Surprise flickered in Scorch’s heart. She did not love or even really like her mate, but Breeze had been a strong leader and ally. With him dead, her influence over the rogues was ended, and she no longer had the army she needed to get her revenge.

A new thought suddenly came to Scorch. My kits! She had only become Breeze’s mate in order to gain more respect among her campmates. But the kits were different. She had only birthed them a few days ago, and already the urge to protect them was strong inside of her. “Where are my kits?” she demanded.

Shade paused. “The Clans have them,” she told Scorch. The queen drew her lips back in a furious snarl, but Shade cut off her reply. “You can’t get to them now, not alone and injured. You must wait. With me as your ally, you will be strong again. You can get your kits – and your revenge.”

Scorch hesitated. She knew very little about Shade, other than what Breeze had told her. She had no reason to trust the strange mist-creature. And yet, she was so badly injured; there was no choice but to trust this creature. Even more than that, the suggestion of revenge had sent a cruel glee through Scorch’s pelt, her claws digging lightly into the dirt.

“What do you need me to do?”

Shade’s mist continued to circle lazily around the massive she-cat. Her tone was still casual, but Scorch thought she could hear a strain in her voice now. “I believe you have already met the warrior known as Silentstorm?” she inquired.

Scorch felt a rush of fury at the mention of the warrior. She did not know the names of many of the Clan cats that Breeze had set her loose on. But Breeze had made sure she knew the name of the massive blind warrior. He had called her by another name too. “The Silent One,” Scorch mewed allowed. The mist flinched, an angry sound like bees buzzing rising in the air. Scorch felt that same anger in her own heart. She remembered facing the blind warrior in battle, Silentstorm’s claws tearing her neck open, leaving her close to death. “She’s the one who’s prophesied to stop Breeze, and you.”

There was a new note of anger in Shade’s tone now. “Yes,” she said in a clipped tone, the crackling flames in her mew even louder now. “There is more you will need to know, and I will tell you. But for now, just know that Silentstorm is the enemy. When you kill her, our bargain will be fulfilled.”

Scorch dug her claws into the ground, imagining that it was the soft pelt of Silentstorm. “Just give me the word, and she’s dead,” she vowed.

The mist quivered, laughter sounding again. “Patience,” Shade told her. “For now, there are other things I need, plans we must make. If you do as I say, I will give you everything you ever wanted. But you will have to follow my orders.”

Scorch paused to consider what she was being offered. Shade was right – alone and injured, she would be powerless to get her kits back. She would be exactly what she had been before Breeze had found her; a bitter rogue with no means of righting the wrongs against her. But with Shade as her ally, she would finally have the power to get what she wanted. Her kits would be by her side again, and she would be a better mother to them than her own mother had ever been. And with the powerful spirit at her side, she would be able to lay waste to the Society that had betrayed her, finally able to repay them in blood for their foolishness. And I can finally kill my mother, she thought with cruel glee.

But she wasn’t a fool. Shade wanted something from her, and her vagueness had Scorch wary. She would ally herself with this spirit, but she wasn’t trusting her, and she wasn’t going to pledge herself entirely until she knew that Shade would keep up her side of the bargain. After a few moments of silence, she growled, “Very well. But I’m not doing everything you say until you prove you’ll hold up your end of the deal.”

Shade was silent for a few moments. Scorch sensed her frustration, but she didn’t back down, staring down the mist with a narrowed golden gaze. Finally, Shade agreed, “Very well. Now, it’s time for you to wake.” Scorch could already feel the ground falling out from under her paws, the Dark Forest beginning to fade into darkness around her. The last thing she heard before she woke was Shade’s crackling purr. “We will meet again, Scorch.”

The queen gasped as her pain rushed back full-force. She was lying in the ditch she’d hidden in the night before. Bright sunlight warmed her back, lighting up the moorland all around her. It was well past sunhigh – she’d slept through most of the day. Her wound was crusted over with dried blood, but it was still throbbing with pain, and Scorch knew the slightest movement could open it again.

Gritting her teeth, Scorch pushed herself onto her paws. A gasp escaped her as her wound reopened, but she forced herself to start padding forward. She was filled with new purpose now, determined to live. And if she was going to live, she needed food, and herbs. One paw moved in front of the other, even as each step sent agony rushing to her neck. Scorch forced herself to ignore it. She had a mission now, and nothing was going to get in her way.

And here is the prologue of Silent Sacrifice. Hoo boy, this ended up much longer than I was meaning. Most of my prologue are from 800-1600 words long, but this is just over 2100 words. Ah well. I didn’t want it to be too rushed.

I was originally going to keep the identity of the speaker in this chapter secret. But I quickly realized that I was fooling precisely no one about Scorch being dead, and I also realized that keeping it secret that Scorch was dead wasn’t going to work for reasons that will become evident later. So we see her perspective in this chapter, and we see that Shade has enlisted her help. This should be interesting. ^^

This prologue takes place right after Silentstorm wounds Scorch, so right after the battle at the end of COTF. But the first real chapter is going to take place a moon and a half after the Gathering at the end of COTF. I shall try to get it posted soon, but I have a lot of stuff for school coming up, so we’ll see. Maybe I can get some writing in over Thanksgiving break.

Also, we’re going to be doing things a little differently in this books in terms of point of view. You’ll see what I mean as we move further into the book, and I hope you like it.

    • Hey! Welcome to the fanfiction world! 😀

You should probably have more warriors and Sharpclaw and Birdflight are canon 🙂

    • I’m excited for the first chapter! Also you did Leader Firestar and deputy Bramblestar instead of Brambleclaw.

  • This is my made up clan called Meadowclan. I have written the second book and I am working on the third.

Sunstar stared out at the glowing Silverpelt. He sighed. Cloudpelt was at his side. The medicine cat noticed the Leader’s heavy sigh. “Are you still troubled? This method usually works.” Cloudpelt twitched his ears. They were doing a mostly silent meditation on a rock under Silverpelt. “Yes, dear Cloudpelt. I feel like we are not needed in the clans. We are originally a Tribe.”
Cloudpelt dipped his head. “Starclan would not have summoned us from our Tribe lives if we were not fit for the clans. The clans accept us as well. Although Riverclan and Shadowclan are jealous of the fact that we are the strongest clan.”
Sunstar hissed as he heard the word Riverclan. Cloudpelt gave him a respectful lick. “I know you are still upset about Riverclan killing your kit.” Cloudpelt mewed. Sunstar shook his head. “Never mind that. I feel Starclan comforting me. I am done. Thank you Cloudpelt.” Sunstar nodded his head and walked to his den. Cloudpelt couldn’t notice that the Leader’s head and tail was drooping very low. Cloudpelt sighed and looked at Silverpelt. “StarClan, please help him.”

    CHAPTER 1
    ————

Glowpaw jumped on Redpaw. They rolled down the hill in the training grounds. Dewheart, Glowpaw’s mentor, and Cindernose, Redpaw’s mentor, eyes them with curiosity. Redpaw was strong, but Glowpaw had her wits. Redpaw would lunge at her, she would jump in the air, timing it so she would land on his back. When Redpaw was about to turn on his back, she pushed off of him. Glowpaw headed for dazed Redpaw. Redpaw flipped over, and she was driven into the soil. She didn’t move. Redpaw ran over to her. “Are you okay?” He asked. Glowpaw turned over and lunged at him, pinning him down. “Yep!” She sneered. Dewheart walked over to her apprentice. “Well played!” She praised. Cindernose walked over to Redpaw. “You did well, but she still won. Use your wits along with your strength.” Cindernose said. Redpaw dipped his head. “Yes, Cindernose.” He said. Dewheart flicked her tail. “Come on, it’s getting late, and I believe you two are hungry.” She said. The other three followed.

Glowpaw and Redpaw sat in the Apprentice Den eating mice. Brackenpaw sat next to them, plucking the feathers from a pigeon. The camp was in a small cave on a tiny pond. The pond was half surrounded by rocks and plants. They would swim through the water to the cave entrance. The water was there when they walked through the cave, but it eventually faded away. The camp was in a huge empty space in the cave. There was a huge hole at the top, big as the camp below, so they weren’t exactly in a huge dark space. The dens were made from dirt and sticks (Meadowclan is VERY good at building dens). And then there was highrock, looking the same as any other highrock. But there was a hole in this rock, so it was Sunstar’s, the leader, den.

Swiftpaw nudged her way into the den. She was carrying no food. Her stomach grumbled and she flopped on the ground. Glowpaw licked her ear. “What’s wrong? Why do you have no food?”
Swiftpaw signed. “Yellowear said that I was a terrible apprentice just because I messed up a move. She was in a bad mood the entire time. She always picked out something wrong with everything I did. I also heard her say that I am a embarrassment.” Swiftpaw hissed and unsheathed her claws. “She said that I can’t have dinner because of my so called mistakes.”
Glowpaw widened her eyes. Yellowear usually wasn’t that aggressive. Yellowear was usually, actually, always, a sweet cat. Swiftpaw was wondering the same thing. “She isn’t that aggressive. Do you think she has something on her mind?”
Silverpaw and Brightpaw walked in. Apparently they didn’t hear the conversation, because they just sat down and ate their dinner. For some reason, the conversation ended there. But Glowpaw kept wondering; what was wrong with Yellowear?

    CHAPTER 2
    ————-

Sandpelt brushed his way past the Warriors to the nursery. His mate, Icefoot, had his kits. He made his way inside. Icefoot looked up at him and purred. “Two boys. One girl.”
Sandpelt purred his joy. He and Icefoot shared tongues for a moment. Then Sandpelt walked away. It was time for him to teach Brightpaw, his apprentice. Glowpaw and Brackenpaw returned from a successful hunt. Spottedface, one of the elders, came over to them. “Kits! Icefoot had kits!” She purred. Glowpaw and Brackenpaw purred as well, and went to see the new kits.
    *****
Later that evening, Sunstar called from Highrock. “Let all cats old enough to catch their own mice meet below Highrock.” He yowled. Cats gathered. “I am choosing the cats coming to the Gathering. Sandpelt, Cloudpelt, Glowpaw, Orangenose, Dewheart, Yellowear, Halfear, Rosepelt, Brightpaw, Redpaw, Leopardfur, and Longtail.” Sunstar jumped from Highrock and made his way toward the entrance of the cave, with everybody following. They made it to the Gathering. Windclan and Thunderclan were there already. Brightpaw went to talk with a Windclan apprentice. Redpaw went to the elders to hear their good stories. Glowpaw spotted a Thunderclan apprentice and went over to it. “Hello!” The Thunderclan cat mewed. “What is your name?”
“Glowpaw. I am a apprentice from Meadowclan. What is your name?”
“Dustpaw. I’m so honored to come to the Gathering.”
“Me too.” Glowpaw purred. Dewheart passed by and the two cats nodded their heads respectfully toward the deputy. “See you!” Dustpaw mewed and bounded away. Glowpaw went to Redpaw. “Hey, Redpaw. Do you want to-”
“Well, don’t be bothering the lad! Let him listen to our tales.” A Windclan elder teased. “Do you want to join?”
“Sure.” Glowpaw nodded. But she didn’t get to hear anything because right then, Bluestar, Thunderclan leader, summoned the clans from Highrock. Shadowclan and Riverclan had arrived.
“Listen, all Clans! I have a announcement. A few days ago, Sandpelt and the patrol found a Riverclan sent on our side of the border!” Sunstar hissed. Glowpaw gasped. She had completely forgot about that! The Gathering was going to be more interesting than she thought.
“We want answers from Riverclan. NOW!” Sunstar stared at the Riverclan leader, Crookedstar. “Riverclan would never trespass on your territory!”
But he gave it away. He didn’t look Sunstar in the eye, and he was twitching.
“You are LYING!” Sunstar yowled. “We have kept peace! Why must you break it?! Tell me!! Tell me now!” Sunstar growled. Crookedstar suddenly lunged at Sunstar. Riverclan lunged at Meadowclan, but then stopped. Meadowclan was not doing anything. They were staring at the terrible sight of their leader losing a life.

Crookedstar suddenly stepped back. Thunder rolled in the sky. “Starclan is furious!” Spottedface shrieked. “Why did you attack Sunstar?!” Dewheart hissed. “He lost a life because of you!”
Sunstar suddenly got up. “Yes. Tell me. Why did you attack me?”
“I wasn’t thinking! I was mad! Why didn’t you attack?!” Crookedstar hissed.
“I would never, ever, fight at a Gathering. Neither would my clan.” Sunstar meowed.
    Silverpelt showed right above Sunstar.
“Come. This Gathering is over. And Riverclan deserves payback. For killing me, and trespassing, and angering Starclan.” Sunstar walked out, with Meadowclan following behind.
Now something else was troubling Glowpaw besides Yellowear. Why really did Crookedstar attack Sunstar?

    CHAPTER 3
    ————

Days passed, and tensions were still high in the clan. Crookedstar killed Sunstar! But why? He had no reason to.
Turns out, also, that Yellowear was just in a bad mood that day because she worked all day the day before, and she didn’t get sleep. Swiftpaw asked her herself. That got one thing off Glowpaw’s mind.
“Glowpaw! Training time!” Dewheart called. “Training session. Maybe that would take Sunstar’s life loss off my mind.” Glowpaw said to herself. She called out to Dewheart; “Who is going to be there?”
“Silverpaw and Redpaw.” Dewheart meowed. “Everybody else is on patrol.”
Glowpaw nodded and walked out of the cave with Dewheart. They swam across the pond and walked across the large meadow to the small hill where they had training sessions. Silverpaw and her mentor, Whitefur, and Redpaw and his mentor, Cindernose, were already there.
“Today,” Whitefur began, “We will practice using your strength in battle.
“Redpaw, you know some moves, I believe. Attack me.” Cindernose meowed. Redpaw widened his eyes. “Are you sure?” He asked.
Cindernose didn’t even start saying his reply when Redpaw lunged at him and pinned him to the ground. He quickly put his two front paws on Cindernose’s head and pushed it into the soil. Suddenly Cindernose hooked his claws into Redpaw’s leg. Redpaw jumped. “Cindernose! You always sheath your claws when you train a apprentice!” Dewheart growled. Cindernose got up. “I did it for a reason.” He looked at Redpaw. “You beat me. I clawed you to make you stop. You were really hurting me.”
Redpaw lowered his head. Cindernose purred. “Why are you sad? Don’t be! You are the strongest apprentice I have ever seen in my life. You will be a very strong warrior. Look!” Cindernose pointed toward the ground. “Look how deep you pushed my head in. I couldn’t breath. That would make a enemy run away in battle.”
The hole was sure deep. Redpaw purred as loud as he could. “Thank you, Cindernose. And I am sorry for hurting you.”
“It’s ok.” Cindernose mewed. Whitefur turned over to Silverpaw. “Your turn. Attack me.”
Silverpaw lunged immediately at Whitefur. Whitefur stepped out of the way. But Silverpaw was expecting that. She turned suddenly and threw herself at her mentor. They rolled until Silverpaw grasped her paw around him and tried to throw him in the air. She barely threw him, but it enough for her to kick him in his middle.
“Stop!” Whitefur yowled. He winced at his middle. “Whitefur! Are you ok? I didn’t mean to hurt you!” Silverpaw mewed.
Glowpaw half expected for it to be a trick and Whitefur to attack the apprentice, but it wasn’t.
“I was attacked by a badger, and he deeply injured my middle. Cloudpelt healed me, but it’s still kinda sore. You attacked my weak spot. That was good. Use that in battle.” Whitefur meowed. Silverpaw remembered that day a moon ago when Whitefur came back with a deep belly injury. She had completely forgotten about that injury. “I forgot about it! I didn’t do it on purpose!” She yowled.
“I know. I still want you to use that in battle, attacking their weak spots if you sense it.” He said.
Now Dewheart turned to Glowpaw. “Atta-”
Glowpaw already lunged herself at Dewheart. She pinned her mentor to the ground. But Dewheart was strong. She arched her back, throwing Glowpaw off of her. Dewheart lunged at Glowpaw, pinning her to the ground. Glowpaw couldn’t get out of this attack.
“You have strength, but not enough. I know you have your wits, and that is good. But you need strength more than wits. I know this match wasn’t as quite fair, since I am the second strongest cat in this clan. But you will face warriors as strong as me in battle. We will do extra training that improves your strength.” Dewheart got off of Glowpaw. Glowpaw dipped her head. “Yes, Dewheart.”
“Now, it’s time for some more battling.” Whitefur mewed.

    CHAPTER 4
    ———–

Sunstar yowled from Highrock. “Let every cat from apprentice to warrior meet below Highrock.” He called. Cats gathered.

“We will raid Riverclan camp tonight. We will attack their camp, leaving them weak. Then we can take some of their land, and they will be too weak to fight for it. I think that is enough payback for the things Riverclan has done. If we kill their leader, that will be in cold blood, and that might start a war. We don’t want that.” Sunstar yowled. The cats below mewed their excitement. “Longclaw, Sandpelt, Dewheart, Darkpelt, Grayfur, Cindernose, Rosepelt, Redpaw, Glowpaw, Brightpaw, Stripetail, Halfear, and Blacktail, y’all are coming with me to battle. Everyone who stays shall guard camp.”

Glowpaw kneaded the ground with excitement. She is going to her first battle! Redpaw was doing the same beside her. They both purred. Sunstar leaped down from Highrock. He lead the group through the cave. They wadded through the water and walked through the meadow. Deer scattered and ran when they saw the cats. Only Redpaw and Glowpaw watched the animals. They headed into the small part of their forest.

They finally made it to Riverclan border. They made no contact with other cats. They crossed one by one. When all cats where in Riverclan territory, they stalked through the reeds. “Listen. We will circle their camp, and when I give the signal, we will attack.” Sunstar whispered. The cats broke up and circled the Riverclan camp after they quietly crossed the shallow river that circled the camp.

“Now!” Sunstar yowled when the cats were ready. Riverclan cats looked up and before they knew it, Meadowclan cats were piling on top of them. Glowpaw thrust herself onto a Riverclan apprentice. This cat was strong. Glowpaw wasn’t. She used her wits. She jumped, and the apprentice jumped after her. She hooked her claws on the apprentice when he got close enough. She flopped the apprentice on his back. She gave a bite to both shoulders. The cat squealed and ran away. Suddenly, a warrior jumped on her. He flipped her on her back. Glowpaw kicked his belly over and over again. The warrior got off. She dodged from side to side. The warrior lunged at her, and she jumped in the air, timing it so she landed on his back. She hooked her claws in him. She let go and got off. She ran off a bit. Then she raced full speed at the warrior. She slide under him and bit and scratched his belly. The warrior yowled and ran away. She looked around. She found Redpaw pinned to the ground by another apprentice. Redpaw kicked, sending the apprentice flying towards Glowpaw. She hooked her claws into him, but he was already squealing. She let him go, and he ran away.

In the middle of the battle, Sunstar and Crookedstar were battling. Crookedstar pinned Sunstar. “Do you know why I made you lose a life? Because you killed my mate. First I killed your kit, now I will really kill you. He lunged at Sunstar’s throat. Sunstar put his front paws on Crookedstar’s face. “I swear by Starclan I DID NOT kill your mate with intention!!!” Sunstar yowled and hooked his claws into Crookedstar. He pulled his claws down and up, over and over. Crookedstar yowled. Sunstar let go. He jumped on Crookedstar and pushed his head into the ground. He gave a quick, but deadly bite to the neck. Crookedstar squealed and yowled. Sunstar let go. Crookedstar ran away. “Retreat!” Crookedstar yelled. Meadowclan gave the rest of the Riverclan cats one last good bite, and let them go.
Glowpaw stood there. She knew the truth about why Crookedstar made Sunstar lose a life.
Redpaw raced over to her. “You fought amazing!” He purred. Glowpaw twitched her tail. “Thank you.” She mewed. She licked his head. Meadowclan was barely injured.
“Now it’s time to take land. Follow me.” Sunstar meowed and led the group through the woods.

    CHAPTER 5
    ————

It was four days ever since they attacked Riverclan. They took a piece of land that had a good source of prey. Of course, Riverclan never made a attempt to take it back.
One early morning, Sunstar yowled from Highrock. “Come all cats!” He yowled with excitement. Every cat came.
“It’s time for a naming ceremony. Bluefur was sitting at the front of the crowd, her kit sitting next to her. The kitten was blue, like his mother. Sunstar leaped from Highrock. “Come on.” He purred. The kitten proudly walked forward.
“This kitten shall now be known as Oakpaw. Oakpaw, congratulations! You are now a apprentice!” Sunstar mewed. Oakpaw licked his leader’s shoulder respectfully. Sunstar turned to the crowd. “Stripetail, you will mentor here Oakpaw. You had Longclaw as your mentor, I expect you to pass down your abilities to Oakpaw.”
“Yes, Sunstar.” Stripetail dipped his head. Oakpaw walked over to Stripetail and they both touched noses. The crowd started chanting; “Oakpaw! Oakpaw!”
Oakpaw loved this attention. He started kneading the ground, which made the crowd purr with amusement.
Glowpaw remembered her naming ceremony. She gifted with the privilege to be mentored by Dewheart, the deputy. Only special cats can be mentored by Dewheart. Glowpaw was one of them. To be a special cat, you have to be chosen by Starclan. This wasn’t the way of the Clans, but the way of the Tribes. Even though Meadowclan was now a Clan instead of a Tribe, they keep some of their traditions.
When the crowd died down, it was time for training. All the apprentices were coming, even Oakpaw. The cats and their mentors traveled to the training area. Cindernose turned to Redpaw. “Redpaw, if a cat pins you down,” He jumped on Redpaw and pinned him on his back, “and your belly is exposed, what do you do?”
“You push your hind legs back to protect your belly, and use your forepaws to grasp your enemy’s shoulders. Then you kick your hind legs up and thrust your forepaws up as well so you can get your enemy off of you and send him flying.” Redpaw answered and demonstrated what to do. Cindernose nodded when Redpaw did what he was supposed to do. “Very good.” He answered. Oakpaw eyed them with curiosity. Dewheart meowed; “Let’s all do a hunting practice. Oakpaw, Stripetail will tell you how to stalk different prey, but I want to see how you do anyway.” She turned to the other cats. “Do we all agree?”
The rest of the mentors nodded. Dewheart turned to Glowpaw. “But you will stay here. We need to work on your strength.” Dewheart mewed. Glowpaw nodded. The apprentices stalked away, and after a minute, the mentors followed so they can secretly watch their apprentices.
“Now Glowpaw, let’s practice getting your strength.”

    *******

Glowpaw lay in the apprentice den with Silverpaw and Brackenpaw. It was a moon since she started training only her strength. She was starting to get almost as strong as Redpaw.
“Did you see Oakpaw stalk in training session today? He stalks like a one-legged badger!” Silverpaw gossiped. Glowpaw and Brackenpaw nodded. “He is gotten about everything he learned so far right except stalking. I never seen that before!” Glowpaw laughed. They silence theirselves when Oakpaw and the rest of the apprentices walked in. Luckily, Oakpaw heard none of the conversation. The apprentices brought their share of the meal. Only Glowpaw had nothing to eat because she spent a long time training, and she rested for a while, so she didn’t have time to hunt for the elders. So she got no food. Redpaw secretly gave her half of his food, but she declined. “You can eat it.” She whispered. Redpaw shrugged and ate his mouse. Dewheart stuck her head inside the den. “Come on. There is something we must do.” She mewed. The apprentices got up and followed Dewheart to Highrock. Other cats were already there. Sunstar was below Highrock. “Silverpaw, come here, please.” He dipped his head. Silverpaw’s eyes widened as she walked to Sunstar and dipped her head. Her mentor, Whitefur, was beside her, purring with pride. Glowpaw finally realized what was going on. Silverpaw was getting her warrior name.
“Silverpaw, do you promise to protect the clan, at any time or cost, even if you might die?” Sunstar asked. Silverpaw nodded. “Yes, Sunstar. I do.” She meowed. She was trying to look serious, but she couldn’t help kneading the ground.
“Then, by the power of the mighty Starclan, I give you your warrior name. Silverpaw, from now on you shall be known as Silverstripe . Meadowclan admires your bravery and loyalty.” Sunstar rested his head on her head, and Silverstripe licked his shoulder.
“Silverstripe!” Glowpaw yowled. Then the entire clan started chanting her name. For a split second the apprentices were jealous that Silverstripe had been made a warrior before them, and then they realized that Silverstripe was the oldest apprentice, so it made sense. After the clan calmed down, Dewheart organized the evening patrol. Dewheart herself, Longclaw, Oakpaw, Stripetail, Redpaw, and Glowpaw were going. They paced around their borders, passing by one Thunderclan patrol, but neither clans spoke to each other. They passed by the the piece of territory that was now Meadowclan’s, but used to be Riverclan’s. Suddenly, Dewheart stopped in her tracks. She hissed as she sniffed the air. Then she gasped as a whole band of Riverclan warriors leaped out in front of them.
“We are here to take back our territory!” Crookedstar yowled, coming to the front. “Riverclan, attack!”

    CHAPTER 6
    ————-

The area was filled with fur and claws. Cats yowled and growled, hissed and scratched. Glowpaw realized with horror that they were outnumbered. “Glowpaw! Get help!” Dewheart yowled in the midst of screeching cats. Glowpaw raced back through the forest and into camp. “Riverclan is trying to take back their territory! We need help, now!!” Glowpaw yowled as loud as she could. “There is a lot, so about everybody needs to come!”
Suddenly, Sunstar, all the apprentices, and all the warriors except Stripetail, Blacktail, and Rosepelt raced past her. Glowpaw followed them.
They arrived at the scene. Redpaw limped past them, covered in deep cuts. “It was too much!” He wheezed. “Oakpaw! Escort him back.” Sunstar mewed. Oakpaw obeyed.
The cats jumped in the middle of the battle. Immediately, Sunstar and Crookedstar threw themselves at each other. They ripped each other apart without mercy. Glowpaw sensed the great hatred between them. A Riverclan apprentice lunged at her. Glowpaw twisted and grabbed her opponent on the head and slammed him down. The apprentice whined and ran away.
Darkpelt rolled past her, struggling with a big Riverclan warrior. She lunged at the warrior to get him off of Darkpelt. She let Darkpelt scratch and bite him until the warrior ran away.

She looked across the clearing. Suddenly, she saw Redpaw knocked to a tree. Blood trickled from his mouth. A huge gash opened up on his back. He shuddered, then slid down the tree and fell off, laying on his belly, so that her terrible back wound was visible.
Fury fueled up inside Glowpaw. She yowled. She threw herself at the warrior she supposed killed Redpaw.
“For Redpaw!” She screamed as she threw herself at the warrior.

    ******

Meadowclan limped back home, growling and spitting at the lost of a battle. Glowpaw sent a silent prayer to Starclan. “Oh, Redpaw. You didn’t deserve this.” She prayed. She clenched her jaw. Redpaw was her best friend.
“I vow I will DESTROY Riverclan for what they have done!” She yowled. The cats looked at her. “I’m sorry. I know his death has upset you, but-”
“But what?! My friend died and you think I will get over it so easily? Some sympathetic friend you are!” She interrupted Brightpaw. She raced ahead of the group. She yowled to the Silverpelt. “Oh, Redpaw!” She cried.
Brightpaw and the others looked at each other. Except Sunstar. He kept staring ahead. “We both have a reason to hate Riverclan.” He whispered to himself.

    *******

Glowpaw poked at her mouse. She was laying beside Brackenpaw. She had become very close to her other best friend since Redpaw’s death four days ago. She buried her face in Brackenpaw’s pelt. She mewed a wordless mew of grief. Brackenpaw rested his head on hers. “It’s okay. Redpaw hunts with Starclan now.” Brackenpaw meowed.
“But he is not here. He’s miles away.” She cried. Brackenpaw didn’t respond, but gave her head a lick. Glowpaw thought she smelled Redpaw’s scent. She purred. “Oh, dear Redpaw. I miss you. I, I loved you.” She prayed silently.
“There is someone else now.” Redpaw whispered in her ear. Glowpaw blinked. Did Redpaw just speak to her?
Then she looked up into Brackenpaw’s amber eyes. “Yes, Redpaw. There is someone else.” She prayed silently. Brackenpaw licked her head. The two shared tongues, then fell asleep.

They woke up to the sound of Sunstar yowling from Highrock. They got up, never leaving each other’s side, and gathered below Highrock.
“It’s time for a Gathering. Sandpelt, Rosepelt, Blacktail, Darkpelt, Brackenpaw, Glowpaw, Swiftpaw, Silverstripe, and Dewheart, and the elders, you can come. Everybody else stay here and hunt for more fresh kill. We are running low.” Sunstar leaped down from Highrock and
lead the way out of the camp. Glowpaw’s anger returned. She would have to see Riverclan. The clan that killed Redpaw. Then, she smelled Redpaw’s scent, then she felt slightly calmer.

When they made it to the Gathering, it took every bit of Glowpaw’s strength to not start a fight with Riverclan. She went over to a Windclan apprentice. The two talked for a bit about their clans. They eventually separated and Glowpaw looked up at Silverpelt. She purred.
She heard a yowl from the Great Rock. The leaders were assembled.
“Cats of all clans! We have terrible news. One of our apprentices, Redpaw, has died in battle. He was thrown up against a tree and died from impact. We terribly grieve his loss.” Sunstar meowed. He shot a brief furious glance at Crookedstar. He did not speak, but his expression said a thousand words. The cats below murmured to each other. It was not every day a cat died a terrible death. Glowpaw wanted to yowl for Redpaw, but she kept silent. She only lowered her head. Brackenpaw came up next to her and licked her head. “It’s going to be okay.” He said.

    ****

Glowpaw strutted through the woods. Her pelt gleamed from the warm sun. It had been a moon since Redpaw’s death, and she was beginning to feel better. She heard a stick break. Her ear pointed toward the sound. A rabbit was walking through the woods. She dropped into a crouch. She leaped and killed the rabbit with a bite to the neck. She buried her kill. Brackenpaw was nearby and walked toward her. “Good catch.” He purred. “It was nothing.” Glowpaw blushed.
They froze. Ahead of them, were two deer. A buck and a doe. The two leaped around the meadow. They chased each other. They leaped into the air, and kept looking back at one another. Glowpaw leaned against Brackenpaw.
“I, I love you, Glowpaw.” Brackenpaw stammered.
“I love you too.” Glowpaw purred louder than she ever purred before.

    EPILOGUE
    ———–

Glowheart lay in the Warriors den. She was given her name last moon. Silverstripe was sleeping nearby, and so was Brackenpelt, Brightfur and Swiftwing. Only Oakpaw remained in the apprentice den, along with some new apprentices, Lightingpaw and Mousepaw, Longwhisker’s kits, and Orangepaw, Snowpaw, and Eaglepaw, Icefoot’s kits. Glowheart stretched and stood up, shaking some moss from her fur. She walked into the clearing, and stared up at Silverpelt.

“Quite a sight, isn’t it? It is much more beautiful when you get there.”

Glowheart turned to her side. There, shining with the tiny stars that clung to his pelt, was Redpaw. Glowheart gasped.
“Redpaw? Is that- that really you?”
Redpaw nudged her with his head. “Of course it is, mouse-brain.” He chuckled.
    “Why are you here?”
“I wanted to come see you.”
    “Why?”
    “I just told you.”
Glowheart left out a mrrow of laughter. Redpaw nudged her again with his head, then gave her a lick. “I haven’t forgotten about you, Glowheart. I’m always beside you until the day you join Starclan.” Redpaw mewed, then faded into nothingness.

    • Very nice!

You might want to post it in chapters next time, because it was huge and long and I can give better feedback that way 🙂

Bluefur (star), Silverstripe (Silver Stripe), Longtail, Leopardfur (star), and Cloudpelt are canon 🙂

  • Prologue
The lake glistened as the midnight patrol snuck down the thickly forested hill. The senior warrior Spiderclaw lead. No apprentices accompanied their mentors. This was a dangerous mission. Amberforest, the youngest on the patrol, crouched low as a growl pierced the forest. “There it is again! I told you!”
Spiderclaw looked puzzled. “That’s not a dog. Not even a fox, or a badger.”
Amberforest hissed in anger and fear. “I know THAT! What IS it?”
Silverheart opened her mouth to sniff. “Smells almost like….cat.”
Amberforest gave a little growl. “That’s no cat.”
    “I said almost.”
“Like you meant it that way.”
    “I did!”
“Stop fighting!” Snarled Spiderclaw. The she-cats looked at him sheepishly.
    Another growl sounded.
“Look!” Meowed Speedstep, pushing his way to the front of the patrol. He pointed with his tail at a patch of fur caught on a bramble thicket.
“That cat hair? I think not!”
“Ha! I was right!” Amberforest purred.
“WHAT did I say?!” Growled Spiderclaw.
    “No more fighting. Sorry, Spiderclaw.”
“It doesn’t look like cat hair. . .” Silverheart opened her mouth to scent it. “But it does smell like it, not from any clan, though. Or like a rouge.”
“What, is it a kitypet?” Amberforest wondered aloud.
    “No.” Silverheart replied.
“I wouldn’t like to meet that kittypet. I’d be in StarClan sooner than a heartbeat.” Purred Speedstep.
“It’s not a cat, a dog, a fox, or a badger. And it smells not exactly catlike. . . Oh StarClan, no.”
Amberforest was concerned. “What is it, Spiderclaw?”
Spiderclaw’s eyes widened and he backed off. “Remember the stories of The Great Journey? How they met the Tribe of Rushing Water?” His voice was a whisper.
Silverheart was the one to voice all the young cats’ thoughts. “Is it them here?”
“No! The first cats who meet them! Feathertail saving them from Sharpclaw!” He swallowed, and glanced at the terrified faces of the other cats.
Again, only Silverheart found her voice. “You mean. . . ”
Spiderclaw nodded. “Sharpclaw was not the only of his kind.” They all looked at the fur with new horror. “His kin is paying ShadowClan a visit.”

What should I call this story? Any ideas? I’m thinking ‘A Time For Hope.’

    • Ooh, nice prologue! But Sharpclaw is a mountain lion and ShadowClan doesn’t live in the mountains 😛

    • Oh no ShadowClan… Erm… The lion’s name was Sharptooth, Sharptooth was only called Sharpclaw as a mistake in one of the guides. Great Prologue!

  • I haven’t been posting any more of “Song of Spirits” in a while. I have the whole thing written out though so I will be able to post more of it.

  • Song of Spirits
    Chapter 5

Kallik stared up at the night sky, wondering what Ujurak meant about what he said earlier.

    Hours had past since then.

Her and Yakone were back in the white bear camp and were now getting ready to sleep.

In the den, Yakone was already sleeping.

Kallik walked in to lie down with him, eventually drifting into sleep.

She blinked her eyes open a moment later to find she was in the place she had never been to before.

“Where am I?” She wondered out loud.

“You’re in StarClan.” A cat with a flame colored pelt stepped forward. “I’m Firestar, the former leader of ThunderClan.”

“StarClan? ThunderClan? What do all these weird words mean?” Kallik asked.

Firestar let out a purr of amusement. “I’m a warrior cat, silly! We live in Clans by the lake. I was the leader of ThunderClan before I died. now Bramblestar is leader.”

“So what am I doing here?” Kallik asked. “And how can you understand me?” She added, before he could reply.

“I brought you here to tell you something important.” He began. “And I can understand you-and you can understand me-because I’m in StarClan. We live in the stars just like your anscestors.” He explained, “we’re all connected in some way.”

“Your friends are here too. Bring them to me.” He told her.

It was now that Kallik realized Toklo, Lusa, Yakone and Ujurak! They were standing over by some trees, talking to some other cats.

Ujurak noticed her, and as if realizing what she was about to go tell them, he started walking over to her, with the others following.

Firestar began speaking again. “I’m going to get the cats you’ll be working with.” He walked away, reappearing a few minutes later with more cats.

“Now that we’re all here,” he began, “I will tell you the important information. Darkness in coming, but there is a way to turn it to light again. You must unite both stars and block out all darkness.”

  • Confessions and Other Storms

    By Cypresswind

You’re not in this camp with me and I just thought I would say so. I study the ground and the deputy cuffs my ear, tells me to pay attention. To focus, which I don’t. I don’t focus on him or you or the splinter in my paw. I focus on the cute kittypet from when I was an apprentice. I focus on the tom with the hole for the mouth, who told me if I was so bent on dying, I might as well have kits with him first.

Like a ghost, I have no body, drifting from mate to mate, lost. I always say yes, say shut up and love me already, say don’t leave me but they’re already gone. Stuck in a perpetual romance, I try to I convince my latest love I am more than sparkle and flash, but all that comes out is a dead fox cub. Love, leave, repeat.

When I find you, you are batting at heather, honeybee eyes squinted in concentration. I already know the words you’re about to say. Babe, I have this script memorized. You say: it’s not me, but you. You have a mate. You’re straight. You’re to old for me. I nod along, complete numbness in my throat. You also tell me you are pregnant, which surprises me the most. You admit the kit’s aren’t your mate’s, meaning I was not the only affair you had going on. You instantly become more interesting.

You start to walk away and I don’t stop you. Besides, in the Clans, adultery is considered worse than murder. You would be safer in the Twolegplace or somewhere far away, in the arms of a stranger. I only want what’s best for you.

That night, I dream. Dream of everyone I have ever loved. Dream of blindness. Dream of lions. Dream of snow. When I toss and turn, my stomach sloshes. Heartbreak is the best way to grow up. I first had my heart broken when I was eight moons on the eve of a blizzard. I crawled into the gorse, wrapped the grey sky around me, and stopped being young.

I idolized my third mate. She was the unbreakable type, the strong girl. Raised on yarrow and slicked with rosemary, she could drown out her grief with a biting laugh. She held her strength in her sternum, and when you put it that way, her death makes sense.

(A tree crushed her ribcage. I guess even the brave have to die at some point.)

I wake up and the crow I eat is full of maggots. They leave a sour taste in my mouth. I may have swallowed a few, by accident. Maybe the maggots will eat me from the inside out, squirming masses of consumption. Maybe they will mature and become flies, buzzing around in the spaces between my veins. I almost smile. Rain starts to fall.

This is the quiet part. The part I shouldn’t tell anyone. I miss them. All of them. The cats who left me in some shape or form. I miss their tooth stains, their ankle bones. I wish them soft lives—wet sand and smudged tides. I wish them orchids. I wish them lilies. I wish them the world that was never mine. I wish them wanting. I wish them honeysuckle. I wish them that fluttery breeze, that weightlessness, that everything that I could not fulfill.

    Dear Loves,

    I am sorry.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I submitted this for Foxstep’s oneshot contest a while back on the wiki, so I thought I would post it here for the Blog to see 🙂

  • Salt Burn

There are three wind-scraped bodies on a rocky cliff, violent tides swirling below them. These are the things that are similar: spiky sea urchin fur and mouths like yawning oceanic trenches. You watch these freshwater creatures from your cave. You paw at the sand. One. Two. Three times. Four.

These toms, their eyes are three different shades of green. You decide to name them based on those colors. Moss. Olive. Juniper. Olive’s tiny claws dangle off the edge of the escarpment. His breathing is shallow, comes in gasps like a beached whale. Moss is creeping forward, slower than the tectonic plates, while Juniper bites his bleeding lip. Olive lets out a ringing laugh. Moss pauses, glances at Juniper with raw eyes. Juniper blinks, slowly and deliberately, his inky pupils contracting in the light.

In the centuries you have been alive, you have seen this scene play out far too many times. You learned to read the flesh, to construct a life from every glance, every tail flick.

Moss is all action, says his broad shoulders and practiced stalk. Juniper’s intellect hides within his thousand yard stare. He is seven years ahead of this moment, or perhaps seven years behind. And Olive? Olive is everything. He unites them, tears them apart, and in the end, he is always the reason.

Something went wrong with Olive, says his twisted hind leg. His skeletal frame speaks volumes. His shaking paws and glossy eyes show him slipping, scrabbling for a hold.

Juniper’s tongue thrashes like a tentacle between his teeth. Moss advances again, stomach brushing the ground like a bottom feeder. He raises his paw, right above Olive’s head.

Olive whips around and Moss aches. He never expected to see those eyes, see that soft face when he steals the life from it. Juniper holds his breath and his chest starts to hurt.

Olive whispers, nearly crying, “Beautiful, isn’t it?”

Moss pushes. Juniper breathes again, and the air feels acidic. Olive hits the rocks and leaves bloodstains, before slumping into the deep, deep sea. A silent way to go out. Moss glances at Juniper. Juniper glances at Moss, thinks about his mate and kits.

    “Let’s go home.”

You go by many names. The Ancient. The Original. The Wise. Midnight. You pull Olive’s salt-brined corpse out of the water, smear the last of your lavender on his body. The back of his neck has started to decay. Small fish cling to his sopping fur. His face is what you notice most as you kick dirt upon it, staring up at you from the hole in the ground. His half-smile, immortalized. If you didn’t know any better, you swear you saw him blink.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: This piece won Laurelpaw’s fanfic contest, so I’m posting it here <3

  • I am posting them Chapter by Chapter now instead of the entire book altogether because the book is huge. This is Chaper 1 of 7. Also, I know some of these characters are from the series and I’m sorry. I didn’t realize until later. I’m going to keep them the way they are and try to put any more cats from the actual series. But if I do add any more cats from the series it’s because I’m actually not finished reading all the Warriors books yet. I’m only on Dark River.

    PROLOGUE
    ————-

A group of cats huddled together on a silver rock. Their pelts shimmered like stars, and their eyes in shapes of moons.
“I cannot believe what they will have to go through.” One meowed.
    “It’s their destiny.”
    “It’s too much.”
“I know, Redpaw. But we can’t change the future.”
“I am not a kit, Lionstar. I know. I just wish it isn’t going to happen.”
Lionstar, the former leader of Meadowclan, licked his paw. “Me too. Along with all of Starclan.”
“True.” Oakleaf, a former deputy, mewed.
“Are you sure you guys chose the right cats?”
“Do you not trust our judgement?” Lionstar growled at Oakleaf.
Oakleaf growled. “I just don’t want them to mess up.”
Redpaw batted him across the head. “Show a little respect, Oakleaf. Lionstar was leader when you were a apprentice.”
Oakleaf hissed. “And I’m supposed to take orders from a apprentice?!”
“Enough!” Snowstorm yowled. “We have chosen the right cats, and we have no need to worry.”
Redpaw sighed. “I hope you are right.” Then he muttered to himself.

    CHAPTER 1
    ————

Glowheart shared tongues with Brackenpelt. Swiftwing, Brightfur and Silverstripe were beside them, talking.
“I believe Oakpaw is going to become a warrior soon. He is old enough.” Brightfur mewed. The Warriors nodded. Dewheart meowed from outside of the den. “Brightfur and Swiftwing, come on. You are leading the patrol with Lightingpaw and me.”
Glowheart watched the two young she-cats walk out the cave. Brackenpelt licked her head. She leaned against him.
She heard a loud commotion outside. She stalked out of the den with her friends. Outside, Oakpaw was fighting a fox.

“Oakpaw!” Bluefur, his mother yowled. She went after her son along with Sunstar and the other cats. The fox fought ferociously. Every cat that got near, he struck at with a powerful force of his paws and sharp teeth. Oakpaw struggled under the fox, gasping for air under its weight. Bluefur whined and yowled as she tried to reach her child, but the fox wouldn’t let her. Eventually, the fox picked up Oakpaw and ran off. Sunstar yowled. “Every warrior go after him!”

    *****

Bluefur lay beside her dying child. Cloudpelt gave him herbs to heal him, but nothing would avail. “He is badly hurt, Bluefur. I would be surprised if he lived. Only Starclan can decide his fate.” Cloudpelt lowered his head.
“Oh, Oakpaw!” She cried. “Starclan, save my kit! Oh, my kit!”
Glowheart understood her pain. When she had her kits, two were stillborn. Only Oakpaw survived, and she cared for him deeply. Bluefur would be in a lot of grief if Oakpaw went to hunt with their warrior ancestors.
    “Bluefur… Mother… I, I…”
“Shh, shh my child.” Bluefur purred.
“No… I, I love you. I see my siblings. They are here to take me.”
“No! Hang on, Oakpaw! You will live.”
“Save your breath, mouse brain.” Oakpaw licked her forehead. “I will hunt with Starclan now. My wounds will be healed, and I will know of no more hurt. I will be with my siblings, and all of Meadowclan and the others clans. Peace will be among us, and I will travel across the skies, running across Silverpelt, protecting and watching over the living cats.” He purred as he looked up at her. “Especially you.”
Sunstar looked down at the apprentice. “I say this before Starclan, Oakpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and protect the clan, even at the cost of your life?”
    Oakpaw purred. “Yes.”
“Then, by the power of Starclan, I give you your warrior name. Oakpaw, from this moment on you shall be known as Oakclaw. We honor your bravery and glory.”
Oakclaw smiled. “Thank you. So, so much.” He licked Sunstar’s shoulder and Sunstar rested his head on Oakclaw’s.
Oakclaw shuddered. His breathing became fast. He took one last long breath, then became still.
“He is with Starclan now.” Cloudpelt mewed. Him and the other cats in the den dipped their heads. Bluefur buried her head in Oakclaw’s fur. “My kit, be with me. My kit….. My kit…” She cried.
Sunstar meowed; “Let’s go. All of us. Bluefur needs some space.”
All the cats left the den, leaving Bluefur yowling at the death of her only and possibly last kit.

While Glowheart was walking out with Brakenpelt, she stopped.
    “Brakenpelt…”
    “Yes?”
“How did that fox get in here? We live in a cave…. Nothing is able to scent us from inside….”
Brakenpelt gasped. He ran outside. Glowheart raced after him.
Outside, in the dirt, were many paw prints.
    And the scent of Riverclan.
“They… They lead the fox here. To kill us.”

    • Nice chapters! But what I meant was post them one by one because it’s easier to read 😛

Bluefur (star), Oakleaf, Leopardfur (star), Silverstripe (Silver Stripe), and Cloudpelt are canon. Please change them (except for Oakleaf and Cloudpelt. because they’re minor characters) because it’s not fair to the authors if you use their major/supporting characters in a fanfic (and Leopardfur is in the first series :/)

  • I’m going to be posting the books chapter by chapter now. And I know that some of the cats in Meadowclan are from the actual series and I’m sorry, I didn’t realize until later. I’m going to keep them the way they are and I’m going to try not to add any more cat names from the series. But if I do it’s because I haven’t finished reading the entire series yet, for I’m only on Dark River.

    PROLOGUE

A group of cats huddled together on a silver rock. Their pelts shimmered like stars, and their eyes in shapes of moons.
“I cannot believe what they will have to go through.” One meowed.
    “It’s their destiny.”
    “It’s too much.”
“I know, Redpaw. But we can’t change the future.”

    CHAPTER 2
    ————

“What?!” Sunstar hissed. He took another sniff at the paw prints. The cats behind him were growling and spitting. Sunstar turned around.
“Riverclan is responsible for killing Oakclaw. They lead the fox here. How they did it? I do not know. But the evidence is overwhelming. Riverclan needs to be taught a lesson. One that will make them never forget the wrath of Meadowclan.”
The cats behind let out a yowl of triumph. Bluefur yowled the loudest. “I will kill every single cat of that wretched clan for Oakclaw!” She cried. The cats yowled louder. Glowheart kneaded the ground. This was the chance that she could truly revenge Redpaw’s death.
“Don’t forget! They killed another innocent apprentice, Redpaw! They made Sunstar lose his 2 life! Riverclan needs to be destroyed!” Dewheart yowled. The cats yowled louder then ever.
“We will go now! Every warrior, come! Apprentices will stay behind and guard the elders. I will not put it past Riverclan to come to camp.” Sunstar yowled.
    The cats cheered as they ran to Riverclan territory;
    “For Oakclaw!”
    “For Redpaw!”
    “For Sunstar!”
    “For all of Meadowclan!”

The forest was filled with the screeching sound of battling cats. Glowheart felt the presence of Redpaw’s spirit beside her. She took on a warrior her size. He lunged at her and she dodged, coming around the back of him and grabbing his legs. She threw him up and jumped on his back, slamming him down. The warrior limped away.
“Watch out!” Redpaw whispered in her ear. “Behind you!”
Glowheart dodged out of the way as soon as a huge warrior jumped at her. He rolled on the ground. Yellowear pounced on him. Glowheart looked around. “Redpaw. Tell me who caused your death.” She mewed silently.
Suddenly, a leaf fell from a tree and landed on a huge tom twice her size. She gasped. Though scared, she pounced at him, ripping him to shreds. She fought with all of Starclan. She didn’t use any techniques. She just clawed and bit. After what seemed like 100 moons, the tom squealed like a kit. He was bleeding badly, but Glowheart did not care. She gave him two more scratches and a bite before he limped slowly off. He wouldn’t forget that so soon.
    Suddenly, she heard the best sound of her life;
    “Retreat, Riverclan! Retreat!”

The Meadowclan cats yowled a wordless yowl of triumph. “We have availed!” Sunstar stood on his hind legs for a brief moment. The cats yowled. Then, the yowling came to a stop. The cats peered around, and saw Stripetail, dead.

“Oh, Stripetail!” Grayfur yowled. Grayfur was Stripetail’s father. He ran over to his dead son. “I, I just cannot believe this. How could they… I’m not mad, or sad, or anything like that.. I just don’t know what to feel. My son walks with Starclan. Too early.” Suddenly, he started laughing like a lunatic. Then Sunstar hit him. “Grayfur! Pull yourself together. Now is not the time to become mad.”
Grayfur straightened up, but his shoulders still hunched. He picked up Stripetail and put him on his back. “Snowstorm would be happy to see him.” He muttered to himself. Snowstorm was Grayfur’s mate and Stripetail’s mother. Snowstorm died of a mysterious sickness. Stripetail was only a kit, and Longwhisker nursed him.
Fury raged inside Meadowclan, but also fear. Any of them could be next to die a horrible death.

    CHAPTER 3
    ————-

Glowheart lay inside the Warriors den. It had been a moon since Stripetail’s death, and nothing from Riverclan. Bluefur had joined the elders, and Icefoot had 3 kits, Clawkit, Daisykit, and Stormkit.
But her anger at Riverclan still tugged at her soul. She would never forget the terror and sadness they brought all because of a false accusation of Sunstar.
Wait, what really happened that day?

“Sunstar… Can I come in?” She mewed.
    “Of course.”
Glowheart stepped inside and lay down on a soft bed of moss.
“I don’t mean to be nosy, but what happened? I know Riverclan thinks you killed Crookedstar’s mate with intention. I heard it. But I believe it was an accident.”

Sunstar sighed. “When I was deputy, Sunset, and Lionstar was leader, I met Crookedstar’s mate, Ivypelt, and she fought me because she thought I was over Riverclan’s border, I was walking along that day. She tried to kill me. She bit my neck and broke many bones. I was beat. Where there wasn’t an injury, fur was lost. To protect myself, I started swinging my arms. Mouse brain idea. I sliced her throat on accident. I wasn’t even aiming for her throat. Horrified, I knew that I had to take her back to Riverclan. I did, and Riverclan thought I killed her myself. They tried to kill me, but I made it out somehow, thank Starclan.” He looked at his paws. “I’m a terrible cat. I don’t deserve to go to Starclan when I die.”
“Sunstar!” Glowheart mewed. “Don’t say that. Starclan knows that you didn’t mean to kill Ivypelt.”
“Promise you won’t tell anyone.” Sunstar pleaded.
“I won’t.” Glowheart dipped her head and walked out.
The rest of the day went normal, and in the evening Glowheart, Cindernose, Orangepaw, and Brackenpelt were called out for the evening patrol. They patrolled the area, but when they came to Riverclan border, they were extra cautious. They sniffed and sniffed.
“Stop.” Cindernose, the leader of the patrol and a elder warrior, said. He took a few sniffs, then hissed. “We know you’re in there!” He called to a bush.
Crookedstar and his Warriors came out. He sneered. Cindernose hissed.
“We wanted to apologize for the dreadful death of Stripetail and Oakpaw. We-”
“Don’t even start. We know you did it on purpose!” Brackenpelt growled, interrupting Crookedstar. “Leave our territory.”
“I do not take orders. Listen, one of your Warriors has been hunting on Riverclan territory. We need you to tell him or her to stop.”
Cindernose looked confused. “That’s all?” He mewed. He turned back to anger. “Fine.” He spat. “I’ll speak to Sunstar.”
“Before you go…” Crookedstar got into a crouch. “Let’s have some fun!”

Glowheart raced back to camp. She launched herself into the water and swam like a wild cat inside the cave. “Riverclan has attacked the patrol! We need help!” She yowled. Sunstar gathered his Warriors and apprentices, although he left Rosepelt and Whitefur behind to guard camp. He raced outside, with cats following behind.
Once again, the screeching sound of fighting cats filled the wood. Glowheart battled every single cat. Time passed, and the battle was still going. But eventually, she heard the worst sound of her life.
    “Retreat, Meadowclan! Retreat!”
Sadly, she followed her leader away from battle. Riverclan was yowling as they walked away.
“Wait!” She called. She ran back to the battle scene. The cats gasped.

The cats sat in vigil for Dewheart. Her calico coat was wet with blood, the poor she-cat’s body ripped apart. Sunstar buried his nose into her pelt. He cried like a hurt kit. “Oh, Dewheart. How I loved you so.” He whispered into her ear, licking her bloody forehead.
Glowheart yowled. The other cats did the same. Sunstar suddenly got up and walked to Highrock. Shoulders hunched, he sat up there.
“The time has come to appoint a new deputy.” He looked around the clearing. “Longclaw will be the new deputy of Meadowclan.”
Even in grief, the cats yowled; “Longclaw! Longclaw!” Longclaw smiled. But then his face turned grim. He stared back at Dewheart. He lowered his head then went back to share tongues with his friend. The other cats did the same.

    CHAPTER 4
    ————–

Glowheart opened her eyes. She was in a large, windy meadow. Above, there was no stars. Suddenly, a bunch of cats with starry pelts appeared. She gasped. Was she in Starclan?
“There must be some mistake! I didn’t die!” She yowled.
“You didn’t.” A large, golden tom mewed. He looked behind her. “And they didn’t either.”
Glowheart looked behind her. There was Silverstripe, Swiftwing, Brightfur, and Brakenpelt. They came up and stood beside her, looking confused.
“If we’re not dead, then why are we here?” Swiftwing meowed. “And who exactly are you?”
“My name is Lionstar, leader when Sunstar was deputy.” He looked around him. “I’m pretty sure you know who everybody else is.”
The cats gasped. Around him was Redpaw, Oakclaw, Stripetail, and Dewheart. Dewheart, being new to Starclan, only had one star on her pelt.
“Times are grave, as you know.” Stripetail mewed. His face was sad as he looked down at his paws. “We all wish we could’ve stayed at least a few more moons with the clan.”
Glowheart shared his sadness. Poor, innocent cats had died for something they did not do.
“But there is hope. You, Glowheart, Brackenpelt, Brightfur, Silverstripe, and Swiftwing, have been chosen to save us all.”
    “What?!” Swiftwing gasped. “Why us?”
“Do you not trust our judgement?” Redpaw face was serious. “Listen, unless you do as we say, blood will fill the forest.”

“There is more to the battle then what you thing. Travel to the Place Of No Stars, and you will hear what happened.” Lionstar mewed.
“What battle?” All the cats gasped except Glowheart.
Lionstar exclaimed everything. The cats nodded briefly.
“But we have to go to the Dark Forest?! We might die!” Swiftwing hissed.
“All of Starclan will keep you safe in the Dark Forest.
“The cats there are evil. They will lie about what happened!” Brightfur hissed.
“We are talking about Ivypelt. She went to the Dark Forest because she did not believe in Starclan. But she is truly honest. She will tell you what happened. Just trust us.” Oakclaw mewed.

The cats woke up. They looked at each other. They looked worried and scared.
Then, they saw Dewheart. “Go now. I will lead the way.” She whispered. Then she disappeared as she ran out of camp.

    CHAPTER 5
    ————

The cats raced after Dewheart, struggling to keep up. They stopped by a stream.
“Drink now. You will not get one for a while.” She mewed.
The cats drank. “Dewheart, why are you the only one leading us?” Silverstripe asked.
“The others are tired. I’m not. Now, listen. Dawn is coming, and I must return to Starclan. Follow this stream, and you will reach the Place Of No Stars eventually.” Dewheart meowed, then faded away.
The cats stared where she was for a little while. Finally, Glowheart broke the silence. “She would have made a good leader. Strong, wise, kind….” Glowheart sighed. She missed Dewheart. The beautiful she-cat was popular, and she was supposed to be Sunstar’s mate before she died. Still, at the same time, she wished it was Redpaw to lead them.
“I will go hunt. Glowheart, Brightfur, do you wish to come?” Brackenpelt mewed. The two she-cats nodded, then stalked away after Brackenpelt.

The cats had a feast, munching on the pile of prey the hunting patrol caught.
“We should go. A dawn patrol will be here soon, and we wouldn’t want to get caught.” Silverwing said. The cats raced away.
Glowheart raced through the woods, barely touching the ground as she flew beside Brackenpelt. They skidded to a stop. They river went in two directions.
“Mouse dung! What now?” Brackenpelt hissed.
Glowheart looked around. One area was full of trees, the other a meadow.
“Hmm. The Dark Forest is scary right? I think we should go left, toward the trees.” Glowheart meowed. The cats nodded, then raced toward the trees.
A cold wind brushed their pelts. Glowheart shivered. They were going the right way.
Days and nights passed. The cats traveled and traveled, nothing out of the ordinary happening on their journey.
The cats were weak with exhaustion, their paws scared and blistered, after 3 moons of running. Brightfur collapsed on her side.
“We can’t make it!” She yowled.
Glowheart nudged her up. “Believe in yourself.” She mewed. But she was tired too. And she longed to be at camp, resting in the Warriors den.
Glowheart gasped. Ahead of them, was a tall wall of mist. “Are we here?” She meowed.
    “Yes.”
The cats turned around to see Lionstar, Oakclaw, Dewheart, Redpaw, and Stripetail sitting behind them. Glowheart raced to Redpaw and licked his pelt. She suddenly stepped backward. She felt a surge of power, ice, warmth, and wind coming from him. Redpaw licked his pelt to straighten it.
“Come on.” Lionstar said. He walked through the tall wall of mist. The cats followed. Glowheart gulped. They were surrounded by tall pine trees. She scent many, many cats.
“Ivypelt!” Lionstar yowled. Ivypelt walked out of the shadows. Glowheart expected that before she was a pretty young she cat, but now her fur was tangled with burs, and her ears and tail torn apart.
“What do you want?” She cried. Glowheart felt a pang of sympathy. She was upset, very upset. Her eyes were glistining with tears. Glowheart knew that Ivypelt knew her mistake, and she wanted to go to Starclan.
Suddenly, hope gleamed in her eyes. “Are you here to take me to Starclan?!” She bounced around like a tiny kit.
Lionstar nodded. “If you do one thing for us, we will. We know your mistake, and you feel sorry for it. I’ve talked with Starclan, and they agreed.”
Ivypelt yowled a yowl of triumph. “I’ll do anything!”
“We need you to tell us what really happened in the battle with Sunstar that killed you.”
