Today I will be working out which character might have influenced Ashfur going mad.
1. Fireheart/star
Okay so the first thing that Fireheart did that might of influenced the fire scene was he literally put the idea of revenge in Ashfur’s head by letting him avenge his mothers death in dangerous path by being chased by DOGS. Bearing in mind that Bluestar DIED in that chase it was a really stupid idea to let apprentices be chased as well.
Later on in his life Firestar gave Ashfur Lionpaw as an apperentice LIONPAW every cat in the clan must have known that Sqirrelflight had dumped Ashfur and had kits with Brambleclaw. But of course Firestar would just go and rub it in to Ashfur that his ex had kits. Great idea Firestar.
2. Squirrelflight
Well this one is kind of obvious. She dumped Ashfur and had kits with Brambleclaw (who in my mind was a much less loyal warrior, go SquirrelxAsh!! ). My personal opinion is that when Ashfur said to Sqirrelflight that he didn’t want to be friends he was testing her but when she just agreed he took it that she didn’t even care about him as a friend. But that’s just my opinion.
Oh and also in Ashfur’s mind her existing would be something that made him go mad.
3.Brambleclaw
Brambleclaw had kits with Sqirrelflight. Enough said there.
4.Hawkfrost
He must have had some part in convincing Ashfur to completely betray his clan and try to kill Firestar, Hawkforst is really good at manipulating cats.
5.Ferncloud
Ferncloud is Ashfur’s only living sibling ( I’m not going to count Cloudtail) and she has been so busy having an uncountable amount of kits and is almost never seen talking to Ashfur. It would definitely make you very angry if your sister had loads of kits when you didn’t have any and she doesn’t even talk to you when you live in the same place.
6.Tigerclaw
He killed Ashfur’s mother. That would make any one go mad.
7.Any Nursing Queens and their mates
They had kits. Ashfur didn’t have kits
Anyway that is the list Ashfur still has no excuse for going mad but these cats might have helped the madness along the way.

Ashfur was a cool character until he went crazy so yeah and SquirrelXAsh would be an interesting couple or ShipFic!
This is really good Maple! I’ve always sorta felt bad for Ashfur, he was always supporting for Squirrelfight, and she just dumped him. 🙂
Actually, I think that Firestar was trying to REPAIR the relationship between Ashfur and Squirrelflight, Brambleclaw, and their kits. In addition, it was Ashfur’s fault he became a whiny two-year-old and threw his revenge on everyone. Also, how is not having kits while other cats do a good excuse?
Even though Firestar might have been trying to mend the relationship, he should’ve know it would’ve never worked out. Ashfur purposefully avoided & or shot vengeance filled glances at Squirrelflight and her kits after the break up. He avoided them because he was probably afraid he’d do something to them. On top of all that, they had a terrible “break-up” that got really messy for both parties. It couldn’t have been more obvious that Ashfur wanted to kill them.
But, seeing Firestar, we know that he can be a bit too noble and well-thinking and all that he might make decisions that seem bad to others. I really do believe that he was well-intending in what he did.
Either that or, in typical Firestar fashion, he was too oblivious to sense the relationship tension between Squirrelflight and Ashfur and gave Lionpaw to Ashfur out of pure blissful ignorance. 😛
Squirrelflight didn’t just dump him. She let him down nicely. Also, Ashfur and Ferncloud wanted to avenge their mother’s death! They agreed to luring the dogs away. Firestar let them do it because he knew they’d want to do something to avenge their mother!
Anyhow, I do agree with you on Brambleclaw (he’s one of my least fav characters for some reason). But I ship SquirrelxBramble all way!!!
Ok I’m just now gonna back away and let our dear Blogclanner Sky debate about this 😉😛

Okay, so Firestar was trying to REPAIR the bond between Ashfur, Squirrelflight, Brambleclaw, and their kits. In addition, Firestar didn’t want them to to do the whole dog chase, THEY were the ones who convinced him to let them.
Good article. I didn’t think much of what encouraged the behavior of Ashfur. Then again, I didn’t pay much attention to him either *ponders*

First of all, I love that PMV 😛
Now let me explain all of this.
Firestar gave Ashfur as Lionpaw’s apprentice thinking her would have liked to mentor one of Squirrelflight’s sons! He was trying to be nice, and let Ashfur feel like part of the family! And Ashfur wanted to get revenge, that was his own doing.
Btw, Brambleclaw was way more loyal, Ashfur tried to kill Firestar! He tried to murder three cats! Brambleclaw refused to kill Firestar, and killed his own brother instead! That is way more loyal!
It isn’t Ferncloud’s fault either. She went and found love. What did Ashfur do? He let his broken heart mold him. He refused to go find love elsewhere. He would have been happy! There are several other she-cats in the Clans. And I seriously doubt that Ferncloud didn’t talk to him. The Erins can’t go over everything that happens in the Clans! And this point also stands for other queens who had kits. Just because they found love and had kits, didn’t mean Ashfur couldn’t as well.

To be honest, Squirrelflight X Ashfur is not a healthy ship for either character.

Ashfur. Well he’s weird he did try and kill leafpool’s or I mean “squirrelflights” for this matter just because she dumped him like rlly! Move on don’t kill other cats because you jealous! Firestar was only trying to help and then you go and try to kill him. I think that brambleclaw and squirrelflight is better than ash and squirrel I bet they’d be like crowfeather and nigtcloud always bickering and only showing a bit of love…….
