  • Kate, this book was amazing! Though I kind of hate ShadowClan right now. Especially Sleekwhisker, Spikefur and Scorchfur. Though my heart broke for Dawnpelt. Poor thing. And Grassheart’s kits were pretty cute. Especially Whorlpaw and Flowerpaw. We didn’t really see much of Snakepaw. And I still like Tawnypelt. Also, poor Rowanstar. I hope Violetpaw will be alright.

    So…does Tigerheart still have feelings for Dovewing? He seemed jealous when Dovewing was talking to Bumblestripe at the end of the book. Plus, when he caught Alderpaw and Twigkit near the ShadowClan border and when Alderpaw came up with an excuse as to why they were there he actually asked if Dovewing was with them.

          • I didn’t mean suspicious in that way. 😛 I’m mostly neutral on Dovewing, I like her alright, and same with Tigerheart, but yeah not everyone likes them as much.

              • I think a lot of people see Dovewing as whiny, which I can understand in some regards. She was certainly the most apprehensive about being part of the prophecy of the Three, and sometimes complained about having her powers and just wanting to be a normal cat. I do get that desire, but I can see why it would be annoying as well. I think a big problem that Dovewing had is that she came right on the heels of Hollyleaf, who is a very strong and interesting character, and has to stand beside Ivypool, who is also a really strong character who’s grown a lot since the annoying apprentice she used to be. Dovewing just looks less impressive when compared to those two, because of just how good Ivypool and Hollyleaf are. People also complain about her being whiny about losing her powers, especially since she’d expressed a desire not to be any more special than her Clanmates in the past, but I strongly disagree on that regard. It wasn’t just that she wasn’t special or part of a prophecy anymore. She had just lost one of her senses that she’d had since birth, it was like she had suddenly lost her sight or hearing. Of course she was going to be devastated and have a hard time adjusting.

                As for Tigerheart, at least to me he comes across as pretty immature (thinking Dovewing’s powers were just cool and not really getting the greater implications, thinking he could meet up with Dovewing all the time without any consequence, and so on). But I do think that can be interesting, especially now that he’s in a position of power, I’m really interested to see whether he’ll mature, or whether he’s still kind of immature and what kind of deputy that will make him. And as for him and Dovewing, I think it’s a combination of some people not enjoying the multiple uses of forbidden romances, and the love triangle with Bumblestripe.

                • Thanks for the feedback. I think the reason I favour DovexTiger is BECAUSE they have been so immature in the past. Their characters have so much room for growth. I think I sense what they can become more than what they have been.

                • No problem. 🙂 And that makes sense. I’d certainly love to see more of how they’ve matured now and where they stand with each other now that they’re older and things have changed.

        • I would LOVE a novella about them! I have very mixed feelings on who I like Dovewing with. I feel like she “should” end up with Bumblestripe, due to stability and normalcy a relationship with him would offer. But Dovewind and Tigerheart are so EXCITING. 😛 Either way, it’d be very interesting to read something about their relationship, especially considering the times it was alluded to in TAS.

      • I honestly don’t think so. Not taking into account most fans don’t like Dovewiong, Tigerheart or both of them, I can’t see many people being happy. Also, I don’t think there’s enough content for there to be a SE. But, perhaps a novella for them would work better. And who knows, wouldn’t a Birdflight, Tall Shadow, River Ripple, Buzzardstar, Rainflower, Half Moon, Jake or Wind Runner SE be better? and that’s just to name a few. But, it’s not my decision in the end and who knows, perhaps a DovewingxTigerheart SE might work out.

          • Kate, It’s not that I hate Dovewing and Tigerheart its just i dislike them. I mean Dovewing knew she was born with the powers and she just acted so immature about it always thinking about herself and not her clanmates, and always winning cause she had to use her powers to help when her clan was in need. Just like Tigerheart knew what the Dark Forrest was doing and he was so selfish not to do anything about it. I think he used Dovewing somewhat to mess with her head a little. I never believed Tigerheart about him being a spy I just didn’t get that filling that he was. I also dislike Dovewing for what she did to Bumblestripe. She knew she wasn’t over Tigerheart well she had a feeling that she wasn’t. So she shouldn’t of kept playing around with Bumblestripe’s feelings and stuff. Everyone could tell that Dovewing wasn’t that into Bumblestripe like he was into her.

            Lionpaw, I disagree with you about Ivypool has more of a chance with Tigerheart. They are very different cats even though they both did train in the Dark Forest. Also, I don’t think Ivypool would do that to Dovewing even though Dovewing always thought she would.

            Sandyfoot, I agree with you on the mixed feelings about who Dovewing should end up with, but i disagree with you on it should be Bumblestripe.

            I think right now Dovewing still has time to grow before she gets a mate. Maybe after she gets her chance to be a mentor and can be the teacher then maybe she is ready for a mate. On the other hand Bumblestripe has always been mature and I do think he is ready for a mate now, but I don’t think it should be Dovewing. I predict that since Rosepetal is mentoring Larkpaw and Bumblestripe is mentoring Leafpaw that they would be spending alot of time together since they both are mentoring and Leafpaw and Larkpaw are siblings. So I am hoping that they become mates.

            Kate, I was also wondering why haven’t Blossomfall, Birchfall, and Berrynose hasn’t been a mentor yet?

              • Blossomfall mentored Hollytuft actually. It says so in TAQ. Also Brightheart and Dovewing don’t have an apprentice either.

              • Kate, I had looked on the wiki and it had said none of them had been mentors yet. Although, It says that in Bramblestar’s Storm that Cloudtail was Hollytuft’s mentor and that in Apprentice’s Quest it said that Blossomfall was her mentor. So I was wondering if you knew which one was her mentor?

                • Kate, I’ve always wondered how do you come up with who will mentor who and which cats will get mated together?

                  Brackenblaze, I know that Dovewing hasn’t been a mentor yet, but I was sorta just mentioning some of the cats who is more experienced than her that hasn’t been one. It is true that Brightheart hasn’t been one yet, but hopefully she will get one before she becomes an elder I think that is just everyone’s hopeful thinking though. Also, in one book it said Cloudtail Hollytuft’s mentor and in the other it said that Blossomfall was, and Kate just confirmed that she also thought that Cloudtail was her mentor. So it could have been a misprint when it said that Blossomfall was her mentor.

                • I kinda just get a feeling about cats and which ones will make good chemistry, either as mentor/apprentice or mates. Cats that are either beautifully in sync, or will have a relationship that will be interesting or challenging.

              • Mistypaw, I don’t think that they were ever a consideration on them two being mates. To be honest I don’t think Ivypool ever liked Tigerheart that well lol.

                Kate, That is very interesting. How do you and the other writers ever settle a dispute about what who should which mate because I noticed on a couple of cats (Foxleap for example) that you and Vicky thought different things about if he should of been mates with Ivypool. I was also wondering how do you feel at times when your decisions are questioned by people? I know I’ve asked alot of questions, but I’m just so curious.

      • Is there even a possibility that there could be a novella / SE on Tigerheart and Dovewing? I’m really curious about how their relationship will play out – will it be revealed by the end of the arc? Also, is this the last warriors series?

    • I hope not to be honest because they don’t really match well. I think this is the only couple I most likely don’t like. I’m not sure if Dovewing should get a mate yet and I hope that it doesn’t try to be written with her trying to be mates with Bumblestripe again. I personally think that Bumblestripe deserves alot better like his sister Blossomfall did. I really like the idea of Rosepetal becoming Bumblestripe’s mate.

  • I got my book early and I’m nearly finished with it. I’m enjoying it a lot, although the ShadowClan apprentices are a pain. I can’t stand a single one of them. Sleekwhisker and Needletail are the worst of the bunch. Darktail is interesting so far though. It’s a great book so far, Kate. I’m really enjoying it.

      • I view Mousewhisker as a bit hot-headed, and they probably would have clashed often. But after Foxleap died, I did see Mousewhisker as another option. Fernsong is…rather young for Ivypool though.

  • I personally don’t mind the name Sparkpelt, but I do think it could’ve been better. I’d prefer if her name was Sparkstorm instead, but oh well.

    Anyway, I really enjoyed the book and I can’t wait for the next one. What happened to Slatekit, though? It seemed like he just disappeared at some point in the story and was never mentioned again.

        • No, in “Bluestars Prohecy” after Bluestars kits were born and she gave them away she was made deputy. At this point Sunstar had lost 3 lives (or something like this) Then ,in the end of the book, when she was leader for a while and already loose 5 of her lives she sees Greypaw who was made an an apprentice not long ago so Mistystar is WAY older!!!

      • I first thought its Violetkit and Twigkit, but since Violetkit is white with black splotches, that didn’t fit.
        So I changed my mind. I think the gray cat is Needlepaw and the black and white cat is her mother Berryheart.

        • I suspect that it is Violetkit and Twigkit, but the artist interpreted Violet’s black and white pelt differently from how you imagine it….I certainly think of her as a black and white cat (whose pelt differs every time I imagine her because I tend to imagine her as a personality/mood rather than a picture…I hope that makes sense) rather than a white cat with black splotches.

            • I totally DON’T visualise the cats I write about. I tend to “feel” them as personalities rather than imagine what they look like. I have to check my Allegiance list every time I make a reference to the colour of their pelt/eyes. it’s just the way my mind works.

                • Graystripe of course! He’s been pure rainbow since Into the Wild 😀 😀 (and I LOVE the concept. My imagination is going to paint them happy/sad/scared with fabulous lurid colours from now on)

      • They gray one must be Twigkit. Violetkit I think is on the cover for Shattered Sky, which I think depicts the siblings. The black cat is a mystery, scan through the allegiances and try to find out. Maybe Pinenose or a rogue from Darktail’s group?
