Book News!

I’ve tracked down important information about upcoming Warrior books:

  • The Path of a Warrior is another collection of three novellas. These will feature Shadowstar, Redtail, and Tawnypelt, and they have been written by the very lovely Clarissa Hutton, who has been working with us on Warriors for a long time.
  • Book one of series seven will be called Lost Stars.
  • The 12th super edition, which I’ll be writing later this year, is about Squirrelflight.

  • Hopefully we can see Squirrelflight shine in her new Super Edition instead of rereading old stories from the older books (like Ashfur and that old drama!) or seeing her personality change back into her annoying apprentice stage from four series ago.

  • Kate, if you get the opportunity, would you still like to write a super edition about Leopardstar?

  • These all sound awesome! I’m soooo excited!!! I’m really excited for the Redtail and Squirrelflight books.

    • To be honest, I’d rather Lark That Sings at Dawn (his daughter) get an SE. I’d love it to be about her growing up and becoming the Stoneteller after the current one (Crag).

Gah, so many cats I want SEs on: Riverstar, Half Moon, Sun Shadow, Lark, Spottedpelt (ancient SkyClan/ThunderClan warrior), the list goes on. I hope the SEs continue like, forever.

A novella on Redtail is the most intriguing to me! I absolutely love him and I’m so excited to read more about him! 😀 😀 Shadowstar and Tawnypelt are both on my list of favorite cats as well! A super edition on Squirrelflight would be pretty interesting, but I kind of think she’s going to die at the end. If she does, I’m not sure if I’d be like “well, it’s about time” or if I’d be disappointed. But anyway…

    • YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

I feel like Redtail has been completely forgotten and all the sudden they’re making a novella about him!!!!!!!Plus they should make a novella about Darkstripe….

  • I’m extremely excited for another DotC point of view. I just can’t get enough of that series.

  • Kate, I’m wondering….

In Squirrelflight’s Kin (assuming that’s still the working title) can we PLEASE see a scene with Squirrelflight, Juniperkit, and Dandelionkit? We don’t even know what they look like at this point.

Another cool scene would be a flashback to the fire scene in Long Shadows, I’d love to see her POV during that time.

Also, I’d love to see scenes of her bonding with both of her families (Jayfeather and Lionblaze) and Sparkpelt and Alderheart. Mostly Sparkpelt, since we haven’t really seen them together much. 🙂

Hopefully this wasn’t too much to ask.

  • Hey there, Kate!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I read somewhere that Crookedstar’s Promise was supposed to have a subplot involving Redtail. Will Redtail’s new novella be based around this lost subplot, or is it something different? Thanks for your time!

  • Okay Kate,
I think I know what Squirrelflight’s Kin is about. It got to be Squirrelflight’s relationship with her kin(children):Sparkpelt & Alderheart.

Her bond with Alderheart is okay BUT Sparkpelt is a different story. Sparkpelt’s personality is almost like her mother and grandmother. She is hardheaded, stubborn, and hard to get along if you analysis the latest books carefully. For example, Sparkpelt doesn’t want SkyClan to be in the Lake Territory, she give a hard time with Twigpaw as she don’t trust her even thought she defended her as a kit, and she almost got into a fight with RiverClan on there territory in River of Fire (and she was irritated with a WindClan Cat tagging along)
