  • I just had a thought… why can only Ashfur can take over a cat’s body and no other cat

  • Here’s what I think happened: credit to my sister for s some of this:
but here me short; so ashfur is the imposter, but—he has no choice. You see, spiresight is the real villain. You see, he convinces ashfur to take control of brambles body. Ashfur refuses, so spire sight threatens to kill a cat ashfur loves (like Squirrelflight) if he does not do it. With this, ashfur is forced to imposter bramble. Him and spire would take turns, like when bramblefake is talking in the den with something no one can see, spiresight is in brambles body at the moment and is arguing with ashfur, who is out of the body when it’s spiresights turn.

    • I don’t know what to think about Spiresight. Spiresight saved Pouncekit and Shadowsight but on the other hand, he was the cat Ashfur saw…

      • Ashfur saw him, but you don’t know how, exactly – maybe Ashfur was threatening him, or maybe Ashfur saw him when he murdered (or, tried to murder) Shadowsight. If you read Darkness Within’s preview it shows that Spiresight tried to stop the impostor, whether it is or isn’t Ashfur, and when he tried to stop the impostor, well the impostor did see him then…

    • I also made a comment about Spiresight once, but you when you read the preview to Darkness Within Spiresight is not evil at all – he’s good. Besides, in Veil of Shadows, the imposter says to Shadowsight, “Ask that skinny cat with yellow eyes.” I think that Ashfur wouldn’t be scared of Spiresight, otherwise he could ask for help. With all that aside though, Ashfur is a trained warrior while Spiresight is a healer, so technically speaking Ashfur could easily beat Ashfur in a fight…

  • I wonder, can the cats directly fight Ashfur, or maybe some cats have to become spirits like Shadowsight did when he ate the deathberries and then fight him?

    • I think they should be able to directly fight him even though he’s a spirit, that’s like the whole plot of The Last Hope. If not that would be really weird and sort of ruin OotS

  • List of cats who could have been the imposter:
    Ashfur: He’s obviously hates Bramblestar
Darktail: Why not? He hates the clans
Tigerstar: He was an important villain and he basically HATES Bramblestar, he thinks he’s a disappointment except…. Tawnypelt was deputy but if course being the good cat she is, she stepped down, which makes Bramblestar (who is a leader) the second best.
Sol: Meh… He’s kinda lazy, just stuffing himself with mouse, and he’s a smooth talker, wait what happened to him?
Wait give me a minute *thinks of villains* oh yeah…
Scourge: mmmmmmmmmmmmmm….. I mean like he did try to destroy the clans…
Hawkfrost: No words can describe what I’m feeling, literally, I don’t know what to say
    Mapleshade: Yeah, no.
Brokenstar: yElloWfaNg kiLleD hIm tWicE (Yay! Go yellowfang!! Kill your son twice!! Get him girl!)

The imposter has blue eyes, so we’re kicking…: Tigerstar, Sol (also what kind of name is that? me: *searches up sol* its a fifth note on a major scale), Mapleshade, and Brokenstar out. We have Ashfur, Darktail, and Scourge, but Scourge and Darktail died, so drumroll please! *I know a song that gets on everybody’s nerves plays* NO NO NOOOOOOO! *music stops* argh whatever, that leaves Ashfur. Ok case closed.

  • Dear Kate,
Why did Leafpool have to die?
No, I mean really. Why did you and the other authors or the publishing people or whoever decide she had to die?

  • I have a feeling that Malpleshade might be involved in all of this… She would have seen the potential in Ashfur because of her own story. What do you guys think ?

  • Hi Kate! I had a question. Since Spiresight is probably getting a bigger role in The Broken Code, I was wondering. Was that always the plan when he was first introduced in Tigerheart’s Shadow? Did you/the Erins always want him to play a bigger part in a story? Or was it just that you randomly thought of him as a good cat to use and if that was the case, was that already at the beginning of planning TBC or a bit later?
Also, with ghosts and everything being a theme in TBC, was that the reason for introducing the Sisters in Squirrelflight’s Hope? Or were they the reason that you wanted to go more into depth with ghosts? And do you want them to come back? Do you like them and think they will make a return? I really hope so! I really think they can bring the Clan cats a lot of help!
And do you agree with Thornclaw in Graystripe’s Vow? With that too much of Firestar’s kin a getting a high position. And would you like to see someone who wasn’t related to Firestar (and wasn’t his apprentice) at the top?
And finally, do you agree that the code should be changed? Do you want crossClan relationships to be legal? Like BristlexRoot?
Oh, one more, have you already finished TBC6? What do you think of it? And when are you starting on Leopardstar’s Salvation? Because it will probably not be out until September, what are you going to do in the meantime?

Sorry, that were a bit more questions than I planned on asking. I hope you have a nice day though and say hi to your cats from me!

  • I have a theory about the impostor. Not very convincing, but anyway… It’s our last chance to get rid of the Ashfur-is-the-impostor idea.

Oh, and this theory contains SPOILERS for the preview of DARKNESS WITHIN

In the first chapters, the impostor is tricked by all the clans and “forced” to reveal his identity. That’s when he says he’s Ashfur. But what if it was bluff ?
I explain. If the impostor is really clever (or if the cat who’s manupilating him is), he would have thought that he might be discovered some day. So he had to pretend to be another cat. A cat who looks like him and who is enough “bad” to take over a cat’s body.
He chooses Ashfur, since he knows him and his story. And during his leadership, he lets some hints, like “I know Squirrelflight”, “I probably love her” etc.
    And everybody believed it.

    It’s a brilliant strategy, doesn’t it ?

    • Not a bad idea. I still think the impostor is Ashfur, but if what you say becomes true, then I would like the impostor to be Darktail. He’s my favorite villain, and he has blue eyes, so it could be true.
Anyway, I hope that when Squirrelflight and the Impostor go to the Place of no Stars in this book they meet Darktail (and maybe even Mapleshade). That would be great.

  • Hi Kate! I had a few questions, I hope you don’t mind!

I think you probably finished TBC6 already, but I wonder. Will you start on Leopardstar’s Salvation or do something else? Or just rest?

Also, was the plan to give Spiresight a bigger role there already from te beginning? (When he was first introduced in Tigerheart’s Shadow) Or was it just a coincidence that he has a big role in The Broken Code? I really like seeing him again, do you?

And lastly, do think the code should be changed? That crossClan relationship should be allowed (like BristlexRoot) for example? Or other things?

Have a nice day! I look forward to your answers!
