So, I know this page is a bit dead, but what better way to revive a dead page than to do stuff on it! I recently started a nuzlocke of Pokemon Platinum with a twist: a somewhat convoluted rule system based on Warriors! The gist of it is, all pokemon (except the first six) start out as apprentices, until they participate in a major battle to prove themselves (rival, gym leader, evil team admin/leader) and become warriors. All apprentices have a mentor, and they can’t be used without that mentor also being in the party (no Graystripes here). The starter starts out as the leader, who must always be the first pokemon sent out in a gym battle (a leader leads their clan into battle), but they also get an extra life (9 would be too op…). When a leader dies for real, the deputy becomes leader, and a warrior who had an apprentice becomes leader. Theres also a medicine cat, who when active lets you use healing items in battle, but you can’t have more than two at once. There are some other rules, but I’ll put them if they come up or if it becomes relevant. I just started the run so we’ll see if I like it enough to continue it and post it here, but for now here’s just the idea!

It would be cool! Can’t guarantee I’ll see the run through to the end, but I had the idea and thought it’d be rather appropriate to come back and post my progress here for old times sake!
I started the Warriorslocke (not a catchy name but it’s all I’ve got for now) and made a little bit of progress! I’ve made more progress than this, but to keep these from getting too long I’ll be trying my best to spread these out.
Starting out the run, I pick Chimchar and name it Chimpstar! I mean, it’s a sinnoh run, so I’m gonna need all the FIREpower I can get. I demolish my rival’s (who I name Rogue) penguin and continue as normal till I get pokeballs. I backtrack to pick up my new team members, Beaverpad the Bidoof, Raptorwing the starly, Lightgaze the shinx, and Rosebud the budew. Before I can get any more encounters, I have to fight Rogue, whose starly is burned to a crisp by Chimpstar and his piplup is wing attacked into the ground by Raptorwing. I flub an Abra encounter on the next route (the ball didn’t even shake, how rude) and recruit Batfang the Zubat to round out my first team of six. Now that I have my team of six, I have to decide who’ll be my medicine mon and deputy. Chimpstar might not live forever, and he certainly won’t if he doesn’t have a medicine mon to support him. Raptorwing is my only other component team member at this point, so I make him the deputy, and I decide to make the medicine CAT title more literal by making Lightgaze my medicine Mon (intimidate may be useful and my other options are a frail bat, a frail flower, and…Bidoof). So, with the team set up, the run can truly begin in earnest. Any pokemon caught from now on will start as apprentices rather than warriors, so get ready for this ragtag bunch to get some apprentices soon!
So, the Switch 2 has just OFFICIALLY been announced. What kind of future Pokemon game would you want on it? 😛

They made a mystery dungeon remake pretty early into the Switch’s lifespan (I think don’t quote me on this), so I’d hope for a new pmd game (they’d be more likely to make an explorers remake but I’d like a new one better). BDSP ruined any desire I might’ve had for a non-legends remake of ANYTHING in the main series, but the rescue team remake was mostly fine. I would do terrible things for a new ranger game, but without a robust touch screen and stylus it would probably not be great (especially if they make it use motion controls as an alternative).
