Need some help with school? You’ve come to the right place!
Welcome to the Training Hollow, where you can get help from or help others with their academics! If you can’t quite understand something you learned in school or you’re stuck on a particular question, ask away for help on this page! There’s just one pretty important rule to follow on this page:
NO ACADEMIC FRAUD!
Academic fraud means cheating on your quizzes, tests, labs, and assignments by using answer keys or by purely copying another person’s work (aka plagiarism). Please do all of your work by yourself! Even if someone gives you the step-by-step solution, do it again yourself so you can understand how the solution was reached or why something specific was done in a specific step.
To those wishing to help others, try to focus more on helping the BlogClanner reach the answer themselves 🙂 Teach them the methods or reasoning that’ll lead to the solution. Just giving them the answer might not teach them how to do similar questions in the future!
As the old saying goes,

I also have a warrior cats math problem!
Thornclaw goes on a hunting patrol each 8 hours. He goes on a border patrol each 12 hours. This hour, Thornclaw went on both. How long will it take until he goes on both again?
It will take 48 hours, or 2 days from now? Am I right?
Idk, I’m too lazy to solve it by myself😛
Amen! Don’t make me do math on weekend/friday.
So basically, LCM of 8 and 12 which is 24, so 1 day.
And you call yourself Mousebrain…!
I have a math class in about 10 minutes 😛
It’s 24 hours, or one day right?
Math class? But it’s saturday!
Unfortunately, I have extra math classes on both Saturday and Sunday before 12 😔 (not because i need a tutor, but because im good at math and my mom wants me to be the perfect asian child 😛)
🫡 stay strong soldier
I’m 90% sure it’s 24 hours aka one day? My tired brain cannot seem to comprehend the problem
Uh . . . a lot of hours
in 24 hours
24 hours
Hiiii! I have a warrior cats math problem too! 😛
If Dovewings eyes are blue 1/2 times, green 1/4 times, and amber 1/4 times, what percent of the time does she have green eyes?
(I just made up the numbers so don’t take this seriously!😛😛😛)
25%
1/4 = 25/100 = 25%
25% of the time
1/4 = .25 or 25/100 = 25% :p
25℅ tho how do her eyes change colour?💀
(she’s a show off I’m not congratulating her😤)
Does anyone have a method to solve this equation quickly? I can solve it, but I feel like I solve it pretty slowly haha:
6 ÷ [(2 + 1/2) 2as an exponent + 1]
I hope that made sense cuz I have no idea how to type an exponent in my keyboard 😛 Just as a clarification, the equation is six divided by two plus one half to the power of two plus one.
well i think the fastest way is just adding and subtracting the number first.
also to do ^, do shift+6
I just do it in my head…
2.5^2 = 6.25
6.25+1 = 7.25
(6/7.25) aka long decimal or (24/29)
okay so I just did most of the math. Here’s what the problem would look like:
6/[(2+ 1/2)^2 + 1]
yeah so as Soapy Wall said just put a caret (^) which yeah is shift+6 :p
use GEMDAS to solve, that’s what I did :p (Groups, Exponents, Multiplication/Division (whichever comes first), Addition/Subtraction (whichever comes first)) :DD so do whatever is in parentheses, then what’s in brackets (exponents then addition), then division :3
What are some easy 8th grade equations or math things to know in general? I’m going to be testing for Algebra 1 which would be basically skipping 8th grade math, so I want to know some stuff to study haha :p
I would HIGHLY recommend going to Khan Academy, it’s free and u don’t need to sign up, just do it whenever u want! they have courses for all grades in maths, and English up until grade 6 (I think)
omg I forgot about Khan Academy, haven’t used it since like 3rd grade :pp but thanks!!
since the curriculum in different states is different i can not give a firm answer, but probably know basic algebra and conversions
okay, thanks! :DD
Omg same, I’m testing this Tuesday-
Pretty sure some things you need to know are things like linear equations and functions, slope and intercepts, scatter plots, the Pythagorean Theorem, and transformations!
Like Lilypaw said, try Khan Academy! It’s been very useful for me.
Hola! I just want a few tips on how to solve (maths in particular) questions as quickly and as accurately as possible. I often struggle to do so, and I don’t have much time left for the exam (I literally have 21 days left until my exam and I AM STRESSING SO BAD). Also, I really want some tips on Poems, since I am horrendous at analysing them. Thanks guysss
i’m really quick at math most of the time, i think this is partly due to a mental condition i’m not even gonna lie but i also did a lot of mental math practice when i was a kid, so i assume just practicing that will help a lot. i do a lot of visualization in my head when solving equations, not just of graphs but of the numbers moving around and interacting with each other, if that makes any sense. idk if that helps, just what i do
as for poems, it depends on what specific thing you’re looking for. if you’re looking for things like rhyme, consonance/assonance, alliteration, saying the poem out loud helps a lot (it also helps to find the rhythm of the poem if there is one, since there is a natural rhythm in which we say things). if you’re looking for deeper meaning, generally if there is a lot of figurative language it helps to think of the qualities of the things they are using as metaphors. i might say some more later but i have to go so i hope that helps
For math problems, sometimes the most important thing for getting done faster is practice. If you’re very familiar with the steps to solving a problem, you can quickly break a problem down into the smaller steps you need to solve it, which can be important so you don’t freeze up when you encounter a hard problem. If there are multiple ways to solve a problem, find the one that seems simplest and most memorable to you even if it isn’t necessarily the most efficient, because it will come to you more naturally on a test and you won’t have to spend time trying to remember how to do something or questioning if you did it right.
For poems, I think the best thing to do is to practice annotating poems as you read them. If a question mentions certain literary techniques to analyze in the poem, search for and underline anything related to them as you read, and write down any ideas you have about what they mean and why the author might have used those techniques. Otherwise, there are a lot of things you can look at when deciding what to analyze; some poems are more ambiguous than others about their meaning, but in general assume that everything in the poems you are asked to analyze has some kind of hidden meaning. Look for any recurring words, phrases, comparisons, or ideas throughout the poem, and try to connect them to each other and what the author might have meant by using them. It helps to read and annotate the poem slowly, line by line, writing down anything the poem makes you feel or think of as you read it. If you are given the name of the author and date published, you can use that too, especially if you know something about the author or time period and how that might have influenced the meaning of the poem.
I hope this helps!
I tried to make this a warrior cats math problem but it turned out weird.
“Unfortunately, ThunderClan’s camp had been demolished by a fallen tree. (OoTS canon) After the initial shocks, Firestar started ordering each cat to start building and restoring the camp, including himself. He decided to make a triangular frame with very straight sticks. In the places where the sticks met, he added some honey to keep it in place. He named the honey globs “R,” “S,” and “T,” with R being at the top. The two sticks meeting at S made a 142 degree angle. The length of the stick between honey globs R and S is 10. How tall is the frame, when drawing a straight line perpendicular to the ground from the lowest point to the highest?”
Here’s the original:
“In triangle RST, the measure of angle S is 142 degrees. The length of segment RS is 10. Find the length of the altitude from vertex R”
i’m assuming you’re supposed to use trigonometry? which i haven’t used since geometry last year so idk lmao
iirc sin is opposite over hypotenuse, so we need to use that. if we say the length of the altitude is x then sin(142)=x/10, so x is 10*sin(142) so around 6.16 units? i really do not remember how to do this haha but fun practice
Hi can someone pls help me with learning Spanish
I’m taking the DELLE exam in sometime
And I’m not sure I can pass
Pls help
As I’m asian my mom needs me to top every exam I give
So I need help
Hiya :p For Spanish, I am… okay in it, even though all of my dad’s side speak Spanish, haha :pp I use Duolingo, just bc it’s free XD Good luckkkkk <3 :<
Thank you so much
i don’t know any spanish but i do have experience learning other languages! a tip i found (from gohar khan the goat 🐐) is to memorize the words for things in your daily life and say them before you use them. for example, before turning on the light you might say “la luz” or whatever it is in spanish, it really helps with memorization! as for grammar i would try to connect it to grammar in your native language, idk how well this would work for spanish since i’m learning german from english and the grammar is basically the same (lmao) but i find that using terms like “direct/indirect object”, “transitive/intransitive verb”, etc. really helps to build connections and understand the language deeper. hope that helps!
u know goharsguide :0
bro is gonna carry my college life
…and hopefully get me into MIT
(please MIT admissions officers, I followed all of Goathar’s tips)
I speak Spanish nearly fluently. Do you have anything in particular you need help with?
I need some help with verbs memorisation. I am awful at learning the irregular verbs
That sort of thing is normally just a question of practice! Do you have any friends who also learn Spanish so you can have conversations with them to practice?
Jaguarclaw:
If you’re still reading here and still looking of language memorization tips, please reply to this comment. I have some ideas that I think will help, but I want to make sure you’re still interested before I go to the trouble of typing them up.
anyone need help with anything? i never commented on this before so i thought id help someone.
Something I’m good at! Yippee! Dappy here, for all your academic help needs! My specialties include: English, Biology, and Chemistry. I’m okay at math (technically I’m up to Calculus, so I know things, just not great at them), and have a bit of knowledge of Java (don’t know if anyone needs that). I’m also good at navigating Word and Excel if anyone needs help with those.
Ask you Java questions, you say?

My cousin’s math teacher gave her a word problem that looks really easy, but neither my cousin nor I could get the correct answer. I think maybe we’re confusing regular tons and metric tons but I’m not really sure. Could some of you guys help?
“In the morning, a train leaves a switchyard. The train consists of one engine, which weighs 30 tonnes; an unloaded autorack which weighs 40 tonnes; and three empty tanker cars which weigh 25 tonnes each.
Over the course of the day, four cars, each weighing 3 tonnes, are loaded onto the autorack; 1.5 tonnes of corn syrup is put into the first tanker car, 1 tonne of of hydrogen peroxide is put into the second tanker car, and 3/4 tonne of acetone is put into the third tanker car.
At the end of the day, the train derails. Three cars are flung from the autorack; 1/3 of the corn syrup, 1/2 of the hydrogen peroxide, and 1/3 of the acetone spill from the tanker cars. If the train were to be put back on the tracks and drive away as is, how much weight would the engine have to pull?”
if I read the question correctly…
starts:
engine = 30
autorack = 40
empty tankers = 25*3 = 75
total = 145
then in the day:
four cars = 3*4 = 12
corn syrup = 1.5
hydrogen peroxide = 1
acetone = 0.75
net gain = 12 + 1.5 + 1 + 0.75 = 15.25
total = 160.25
derails:
– 3 cars = -9
– 1/3 of corn syrup = -0.5
– 1/2 hydrogen peroxide = -0.5
– 1/3 acetone = -0.25
net loss = -10.25
total = 150
so 150 tonnes? looks pretty simple to me but idk if I’m missing something lol
Yeah, I thought it looked simple too, but when my cousin got her results they say the correct answer is 130? The only thing I know for sure is that I don’t want to be anywhere near that mixture of hydrogen peroxide and acetone.
That’s literally impossible though lol, the engine + autorack + tankers are 145 tonnes so it definitely has to be more than 145 right? Unless the acetone peroxide exploded…
That’s probably what happened lol
I have something that might be helpful. The question at the end says, “How much weight would the engine have to pull?” So I’m assuming that means the engine’s 30-tonne weight shouldn’t be included in the final total. I got 120 though (150-30= 120, and I did all the math before), so I’m curious how the answer could be 130?
Idk. It could’ve been a mistake on the part of the teacher or whoever wrote the problem, but I’m going to go with the theory that the acetone peroxide exploded and damaged whatever scale is used to weigh this train
Yeah that would make sense ahaha
if anyone needs help with things, here’s what I can do
I’m in honors geometry, which is more difficult than normal geometry and we are almost done, so I know most of geometry (and all maths below, algebra, pre-algebra, and the rest)
I’m in honors English and will be in AP Lange, so if anyone needs English help I can help
I am also in Spanish two, and can conjugate present and past tense, so if you need help with that I could help
I also took physics and geology for science, so I could answer questions around those.
Reminder, things I can help with:
English grammar
Nonfiction writing
History (especially US & European)
Music theory
Hi guys! basically how do I write a cubic function using only the 3 given x-intercepts?
I have an algebra test on Tuesday and tests are worth 50% of my grade, so anything helps a lot, thanks!
each x intercept a can be represented as a factor (x – a)
this is because if you have some random function and you want to find an x intercept, you set y to zero:
(x-a)(x-b)(x-c)=0
and for any multiplication equation to equal 0, at least one of the factors has to be zero. so if x=a, then the (x-a) factor will equal 0, and 0 times anything is 0 so the equation is true.
for a cubic equation, which can have up to 3 x intercepts, you would need 3 x’s in the equation. that can mean 3 of those factors, or it can be a single factor cubed, or it can be a factor times a different factor squared.
the thing with this though it that you can’t have any other terms in the equation, or the x intercepts will no longer work (the term with all the factors will equal 0, but if you add something to 0 it is no longer 0). if you want to have a y intercept, you have to find some other constant that will make y equal to the y intercept when all the x’s are 0
example cubic equation:
(x-2)(x+3)(x-4)=y
this function has x intercepts at 2, -3, and 4. if we want it to have a y intercept at 5, we can set up an equation like this
a(0-2)(0+3)(0-4)=5
and then solve for a to get the constant we need, which according to desmos is 0.2083 or something like that idk i’m too lazy to do the actual equation rn
hope that helps, lmk if anything is still confusing and i can explain more (also hope this is what youw ere asking lmao)
thanks that helps a lot!!
what eggo said was probably right, I’ll answer it anyway though
each x intercept has a factor in the equation (x-a)
so if x-intercepts are 3, -4, 5
y = (x-3)(x+4)(x-5)
so default y-intercept:
y = (-3)(4)(-5)
y = 60
if you want to map the function to a specific point (can be any other point):
y = a(x-3)(x+4)(x-5)
so say the point (0, 50) was on the function
then you would just replace and find a
50 = a(-3)(4)(-5)
50 = 60a
a = 5/6
so the new function def would be:
y = 5/6(x-3)(x+4)(x-5)
